how did you first meet/start digging tercs?
WARNING: this is one of those lame self-congratulatory "let's talk about how rad our cars are" threads, similar to every thread you'll find on all the VW forums. the only difference here is that the terc deserves it. i'll start. when i was a kid, my bud's mom had a 4WD terc and she drove u...

that's too funny--my hatred for post-1993 vehicles is sitting smugly right now.

Re: It seems nice, sure, but 4k?
it's funny when they list stuff like 'new pcv valve.' whoah, sweet. in some shots it looks almost mint. then you see the hatch and the huge scrapes on the body behind the rear passenger side wheel. and the dirty interior. i'd offer no more than $1200 and that would be if i didn't have one but simply...

Re: Looking for a rear cargo cover shade thingy and stereo
hi MH. the rear cargo covers are another difficult to find item, mainly because they're flimsy and weak, and get trashed if you actually use them. i think it's just really thin press board with carpet on it. as for stereo, if you search 'stereo wiring' or something like that you'll find a recent thr...

Re: New guy from Victoria
lasqueti, how did you find out there are tercs over there? do you visit it? i've never been but heard about the pioneer lifestyle that is pretty common there. wild. what years are the ones in the yard in ucluelet? if they have clinometers, stock roof racks, the newer headlights ('87-'88) i would gra...

Re: New guy from Victoria
WF, i'm always looking. there was a good parts vehicle for $200 recently but i passed on it because i would have had to drive it over the malahat to get it home and it surely would have left me stranded. another board member took a look and told me it was a piece of doodie and not worth risking the ...
Re: YUGO!

Re: Ignition advance specs?
hmm, valve lash. never thought of that. since i had this problem both before AND after i swapped engines, i don't think it's the cause of my ping but ya never know. i'll remember it as i work through possible solutions. canuck, one 'n'!...but i f-ing hate hockey. no, i hate the heat so i generally s...

Re: Ron Blachut's 1984 on flicker
it's haunting to think of his garage with a tercel still up on jacks, years after he passed away. reminds me of a ghost town or something. i guess it would be a difficult thing, physically and emotionally, for his wife to deal with though. that would be pretty rad if you, or any members in the area,...

Re: Pilot and Throwout Bearing Question
oil pan gaskets are a b*tch to do without pulling the engine. you have to support the engine from above and remove the cross member to access the oil pan.

Re: 1987 Tercel 4WD Wagon SR5 - $1300 (Nanaimo, BC)
i just got an email from the seller saying that his daily driver broke down so he actually won't be selling this for a while. it's weird though, i tried to email him back and have received failure messages both times.
