Re: Tercel 4WD 2.0

There were at least 3 generations of estate Sprinter Carib 4wd. Finnish Toyota dealers received them too but second one was sold either as Corolla Tercel 4wd or as Corolla 4wd and third one was called Corolla 4wd. But they all are rare. Did they sell 2 generations of Corolla 4wd in the US? I know t...

Re: PNW Meet Up

No solid plans yet but I was hoping to escape the Arizona summer heat and take a July-August timeframe trip to PNW. Would love to meet up if things come together.

Two Tone Blue 1986 4WD SR5 Southern Arizona

Well I never thought the day would come that I would do this. Always figured this one would be one of my forever cars, but it looks like I’m gonna keep the tan one and let this one go on to someone else. Nice looking rig! Very tastefully done. Glad to see you didn’t go lift it. Keeping that stock reliability. Cool roof rack, rear mounted spare, and front brush guard!

Re: Terry Making Noise - 85 A/T Tercel 4WD DLX Wagon

Glad to hear the Tercel is back in service. Hopefully adventures are around the corner soon. It definetly sounds like a gear whine to me. It’s not bad by any means. Being an automatic it’s probably coming from the front differential. Not necessarily something wrong, just noise that develops from inc...

A nice drive

Took a nice drive on a windy country road going through golden grassland and mountains (loaded with about 600 lbs of lumber). Tested out the new rear air shocks. They worked real nice.

MA700 Air shock test drive

I got to test out the new Monroe MA700 air shocks today and I’m really happy with them so far. I had about 600 lbs of lumber in the back. Aired them up to about 55psi and the rear was back to stock ride height. No bottoming out over the back country roads and cattle guards. Nicely dampens any oscill...

Re: Rear shock absorbers wearing out unusually fast

Got around to installing the Ma700 air shocks on the 1986 Blue SR5 this weekend. Running about 25 psi for unloaded stock ride height. Had to redo the carrier bearing while I was at it, all the thrashing on busted shocks did it in (it was starting to sag since I got the car). Only thing I’m not thril...

Re: Which Gear Oil or Differential Oil should I use? Personal Conclusions and discussion. Molybdenum additive use?

If you're going to run ATF, I'd suggest supplementing it with a thicker gear oil. Professor: that’s about the same conclusion I came to when considering using ATF in any of my manual transmissions I finally got around to wrenching on the new to me 1983 DLX this weekend. Here’s the transmission plug...
