Oh.... I thought you were referring to using the radiator to cool the MT oil. You are right, the answer to your question is yes you can use that radiator on your car. And yes, plugging those ports if you're not gonna use them would be a good idea. Dunno if the Terc puts out enough heat or if ...

I have a new 3core radiator for my Jeep. It also has the 2nd circuit built in for ATF or whatever I feel like running through it. I was thinking about hooking up a small external hose and pump and running water through that 2nd citcuit for a "camp shower." Gets awfully dusty on those trail...

All replacement radiators have AT coolers built in. You can use them with a manual. You could use them with a manual transmission, but how would you get the fluid circulationg through the radiator? Also, MT's generate far less heat than AT's due to the lack of a torque converter, and therefor the o...

Not that I'm one to talk (I've spent about $1200 in the last year fixing all sorts of different stuff on my car) but it you're gonna spend $1000 on your engine alone, why not just buy a reman 4A or rebuild and hot-rod out a 4A yourself? I would have done the same here except for that pesky smog chec...

According to the dealer, curb weight is 3300lbs. There are a set of truck scales near my house (on the way back from the 4x4 playground as luck would have it) and I roll over it every now and then. With 1 passenger, 1/4 tank of fuel left, 50lbs of misc gear, lunch eaten, and my 110lb fiancee riding ...

What would be the lightest duty winch could you use? I have access to a 3000LB one.[/code] Well, general rule of thumb is double your own weight. The idea is loosely based on the notion of max load and working load. A winch actually gets "weaker" as the drum fills up with rope due to the ...

Winches/Offroad Gear

Oh, wheres a good place that I can get an electric, or manual winch mounted onto my car? This is an interesting question that I have often wondered myself. I'm pretty involved in the 4x4 community, what with my Jeep and all, and typically a "winch plate" or "winch bumper" (which...

The cost of a new engine is not that outrageous, anywhere from $350 at a junkyard or classified ad, to $1500 from a remanufacturing company. Installation is pretty straight forward, meaning that you should be able to do it yourself with the aid of a borrowed engine crane and a small but adequate sel...

Ok. I see that no one is committing to the idea, so I'm going to lay out some groundwork and see if there are any takers. December is just too short notice, so it'll be January. I'm gonna put out 2 choices for 10am on Saturday, Jan 20. 1. LongBottom Coffee in Hillsboro for coffee/breakfast/meet&...

Yeah, finally found it in the FSM, under auxilliary emissions systems. The correct nomenclature is the Cold Mixture Heater, or CMH, and it does only turn on when the engine is cold. The rest of the time it is off. Thanks anyway Takza!

Rear Window Wiper and De-Frogger Questions

My rear wiper doesn't like to keep very good tension against the glass, and therefor it doesn't do a very good job wiping. Anyone ever replace the spring of figure out a way to fix this? It also doesn't come away from the glass (when I pull it out to clean the window or change the blade) more than a...

Carb Spacer / Primary Intake Heater

While doing all that work on the Badd Turkle this weekend, I found that the wires going to PCV spacer plate/heater that sits under the carb were broken. I am guessing that this is a heater of some kind to help with fuel/air mixing. Anyone know how important this is for mileage? Takza? I'm guessing J...
