Jasper engine

You lucky dawg!

I have called Jasper three times over the last 7 years and they never had any for the 2WD.

The engine looks so good!

Kudos! and Welcome to the board.

Re: Zen and the Toyota Tercel Wagon

Thanks Petros for making me cry  However, your rusted-to-death-Tercel story demonstrates why I have worked so hard rubbing down the rust spots on my Tercel--spray painting the spots-- as I try to prevent (and succeeding) those spots from getting too deep starting the all-inclusive Death March...

Re: Timing issue

I found out that Canadian Tire doesn't loan out timing lights and I wasn't going to spend $50-$100 for a new one just to check the accuracy on my old one. Just for the hell of it I checked the timing on my other car ('83 Tercel hatchback) with my old, suspicious timing light and it showed about 16 ...

Re: Intake system

there might be an after market air cleaner assembly from K&N that will fit on the stock carb, but you would have to plug the vac lines that go to it. And as noted above, you would not get the hot air intake system. that is not a problem for driveablity unless you drive around in icing condition...

Re: 1983 4wd Bucking like crazy up hills, and I'm in the mtn

I don't know what TOO OLD is on these cars..mine is 30 years old and 312+K miles. I agree with Petros on the dizzy and marlin on the plug wires. Plug gap might also be a problem but it also sounds like an air to fuel issue..which may be a clogged Cat. Convertor...in my experience. check the conditio...

Re: Intermittent no-crank situation in damp weather

This is a very common problem, all I did was replace the female connector on the + wire to the solinoid..use one that is housed in plastic, the connector it fits on the solenoid better and will nullify the rain drops posing a damp problem. Mine Tercel never ran well in high humidity and rain--gulf c...

Re: I think she might be dead...

yesterday i located a tercel at a wrecking yard the PCV on the top of the engine has free flow when I suck on it's hose, so thats a vacuum leak as well i guess? I'm not sure how they are supposed to work. So I'm thinking of just capping that line off to the carb so it's not another vacuum leak. The...

Re: I think she might be dead...

You should feel vacuum on the advance, but you CAN plug it off and the car should start, the only thing it runs is the high altitude adjustment (of the timing). Odd Dizzy, all I have seen are the Nippon-Denso big ones. The plugs being black and sooty indicate lean mixture. Clean the plugs withcarb c...

Re: Alternator Regulator ????

Its worse than that, the external alternator is 50 amp and the internal is 55, as I remember your 4wds take the 55 amp., according to my manual.

Re: need a new/used radiator or repair it?

our radiators cannot be repaired..period.

get a new one...not junkyard one.

AutoZone has them with lifetime warranty...I bought ONE in 1990 and AZ had to replace three more since then---I never had to pay for another one.

Petros, Thats what I was thinking also, but it doesnt fit on either port that is under there, or maybe I am just being a sissy when I am trying to put it on!! Do you know which side it supposed to go to what? On some of the blower motors the square end fits on the SIDE not underneath..a little hint...
