Poor gas mileage
Hello-- I recently acquired a 1981 base Tercel w/ 3ac and 4spd manual. I've been having to drive it since my wagon got mushed by a drunk driver (story for another thread). I just started tracking the mileage, and I'm getting around 18mpg. There have been no mods done to the car, except a 2.5" s...

Re: RWD Battle Wagon
I have another question. How did the exhaust manifold fit previously on the 4age? I am still in the process of gathering parts, and saw this manifold for sale, and wondered if it'd clear the steering shaft. (https://www.protuninglab.com/hds-tc85-ae86-ty.html?utm_source=googlepepla&utm_medium=adw...

Re: slamming out of first gear on take off from a stop
Not gonna lie, I also have a similar issue. I need to try the atf flush. With mine, instead of popping out of first, I cannot get it into first if it's going faster than 5mph. And third gear is a bit crunchy. What causes third to crunch?

Re: Battle Wagons I & II feat. 4age rwd wagon
THis car is RWD there is no front diff or axles or any of that crap. And I converted to manual rack so there is almost nothing there in the way except the sway bar, but I will be doing some test fitting this weekend. Schwoops I forgot. You're going to try to put a t50 in, right? Then the only issue...

Re: Battle Wagons I & II feat. 4age rwd wagon
I am determined to keep the 2 piece oil pan. I have a couple idea of how to make it fit. I should be working on this some more this weekend and will update the thread with pics! Thanks guys for the continued interest. The issue I had were -- the oil pan hit the hump on the top of the differential, ...

Re: Bushing or not
Also, depending on the state of your sway bar, you may have to get creative on removing it. My '88 came off no problem, but my '85....Lets just say it involved a large ratchet strap, large tree, and me driving in reverse. First and last time I ever want to do that.... 1. Did you see the listing in ...

Transmission Noise
It seems like 90% of my posts here are transmission related...Anywho, I am coming here to get advice about an odd noise that is coming from my transmission. Ever since I got the car, its made the noise, hasn't gotten worse, no issues with driveability aside the ones that were there before. Sometimes...

Re: Bushing or not
Rock auto does not have the sway bar end link bushings. I had to get mine from a dealer. For the 4 rubber pieces, 4 washers, and the 2 inner metal shafts was around $120. Ridiculous in my opinion. Also, depending on the state of your sway bar, you may have to get creative on removing it. My '88 came...

Re: Battle Wagons I & II feat. 4age rwd wagon
I am also interested in this. I made a 7ac for my tercel, however i want to make it into a 7ag with a tbi unit. I already have a 4agze intake to use with my build. I was going to slap my 32/36 on it, however, holley just came out with a 2 barrel sniper tbi unit that I may pick up and slap on. Plus s...

Re: Wiper blowing fuse
The problem isnt that it's blowing them while the wipers are on. The fuses are blowing when I'm driving. I'll put a fuse in, itll work (sometimes), then a few days later, when I need to clean my windshield, the fuse is blown again. I doubt its a short in a motor since both wiper motors work fine. My...

Wiper blowing fuse
Hello-- On my '85, I've got most of the issues sorted, except for one. When I got the car, the ash tray was full of 20A fuses. I found out those were only for the wiper circuit. Sometimes, when I put the fuse in, it'll last a day or so two before it blows again. Other times, when I touch the fuse to...

Re: To fix or part out...
no, sorry. I have too much no my plate now. Best take the two, and make one really good one out it. Hrm? If the vinyl seats are shot, not worth putting any effort into them, find replacements. The '88 has cloth bucket seats, though they are not adjustable. Only damage is on the driver's seat, typic...

Re: To fix or part out...
it is not really worth pouring time and money into a car with a rusty body and frame. thought rust can be fixed, to do it properly is costly, and unfortunately these cars just are not worth enough to justify rebuilding a rusty Tercel. I would use it as a parts car and put all your effort, parts and...

To fix or part out...
Hello-- I need some help on a serious decision regarding my '85 and '88 wagons. A few days ago, I had the transmission go out on my '88 wagon. I haven't pulled it yet, but I have a pretty good idea as to what happened. The bearing that holds the shaft with the gear that transfers power from the inpu...
