Re: Souping up a 3A Engine

I wonder if anyone has tried to make a 7a with a tercel 3a head on a 7afe engine (deleting the fuel injection) as 7afe blocks seem to be plentiful. I imagine getting the correct size timing belt would be hard though ive done it, and so has i think jon woods. mine was an absolute dog, but thats beca...

Re: Souping up a 3A Engine

Where are jets avaibable? I googled and found a site and they just wrote JB weld a jet to make it smaller and drill it out or use a larger drill to enlargen it. It was a carb shop site that wrote that under the jets category. i dont think anyone carries aisin jets. and dont use jb weld, use solder....

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

Great that you got it running. It must feel good to have such thing on the road. And yes, we are interested to hear or see how it performs from 0-60. so, i havent done a video yet cause while it ran, it also had a pretty nasty misfire under boost. with boosted cars you need to tighten your spark pl...

Dreaminvader wrote: Wed Sep 20, 2023 10:02 am Awesome good to know- thank you very much for the info. So far my search is coming up empty for parts  so you are saying I can only use the 4 speed manual transmission?

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

Welp, figured it out. After replacing the pump once again with a carquest pump meant for a ford bronco II, that didnt solve it. Upgrading the FPR to the aeromotive one i got from a friend also didnt solve it. It was still fuel starving. Looking at the fuel system, that only left the stretch of line ...

Re: observations on my first t4 transmission disassembly

If the oil is getting dark quickly, you have a bearing thats getting hot and scorching the oil. you need to find the bad bearing and replace it asap before it nukes the trans.

Re: Wanted Manual Transmission for 2wd swap

there are no 6 speeds. the 5+1 is incompatible with the fwd cars. hardest part is drilling the holes for the clutch box, and successfully removing the clutch cable guide on the firewall. brake booster will also have to get removed to drill holes. if you find the parts and need help, lmk. I converted...

Austin wrote: Mon Sep 18, 2023 8:57 am Fuel filter has been replaced and carb was clean and rebuilt. What do you mean by idle circuit? Vacuum lines have all been replaced.
idle circuit is apart of the carb. its what meters the fuel for idle. who did the clean and rebuild, and how was it cleaned?

Re: Fuel problem? Timing issue? Won't stay running

Having trouble with my 1985 manual wagon. The car sat unused for a bit over 10 years. Started briefly when it was removed from the garage but wasn't driven. Since bringing it home we've gone through a lot of different parts. Parts replaced include: Front and rear brake hardware. MR2 break upgrade O...

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

update: been trying so hard to get the car tuned. Initially i was having really bad issues with sharp lean AFR spikes as soon as boost rolled in, then it turned to the engine randomly losing fuel pressure while casually driving. Pumps are called pumps for a reason not Sucks...I was trying to pull fu...

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

I followed the dimensions from fb user JayJay Idingo (hes on there, dont know his name though). Funny you mention that because I randomly thought about this a few days ago and wonder if he is JDNightFox on here. JDNightFox used to have a profile pic that looked like JayJay Idingo's dog mask thing. ...

Re: Turbo 4age tercel

Finally. Flywheel is back and installed. The reason the machine shop took so long with it is cause I dropped it off right before they fired a long timer engineer, and the guy had like a 3 month back log of work the shop had to catch up on. I also took it to a driveshaft shop to get it balanced. They...

Re: The electric fan that runs with AC or Transmision

HI, just asking a simple question. Under the hood looking straight down on a 1984 Toyota Tercel DXL the electric fan with its own dedicated smaller radiator. Is that for the AC or Transmission? Just asking because it in the low 90 here in Duluth, MN and I have never seen that fan turn. Checked all ...
