Re: Tercel dying in idle, need ideas.
this may seem odd but switching the fuel solinoid locations may be worth a try. do not know why this worked for me. my manual shows them one way and other manuals show them the other way i just know it worked i was having pretty much the same problems your having after installing a different engine ...

Re: Steamy Head Gasket Question
I wonder if it is neccesary to re-torque the 3ac engine head bolts with a hot engine. I usually use Felpro head gaskets and if I remember correctly they do not recommend re-torqueing Anyways I have done at least 7 head gaskets over the last ten years on the tercel 3ac engine without re-torqueing Non...

Is the yellow car getting better mpg since you did the work?[/quote] the white car is the odd duck 1983 others on this site have posted 35 plus milage seems to be rare but it does happen i really feel the need to know...

Re: O2 sensor voltage at idle? 3ac tuned for smog check
Assuming all things are functioning properly except the O2 sensor. Will that affect gas mileage? What kind of gas mileage are you getting now? I posted in the "general discussion" "quest for better mileage" the various mileage of my three tercels. basically one (white car) gets ...

Will that affect gas mileage?
All of my tercels have mucho mucho miles on the O2 sensors.
I do not have to pass any smog tests

Re: O2 sensor voltage at idle? 3ac tuned for smog check
Does anyone have an idea as to how long these O2 sensors last?
Does one need to be concerned once they reach a certain mileage age?
Can they last indefinatly?

Re: Starter -- Click, no crank. Diganosis?
The small wire is attached with a clean connection. It is a push-on connect. I believe this is the wire that goes to the starter relay / ignition. correct? Does anyone know where the starter relay (or maybe, the park/neutral switch as my tercel is an automatic tranny) is located? Thanks. the plasti...

Re: RPM Cycling Situation & Vacuum Switch Location Query
after rereading all of this i feel the need to tell about how i dread the cycling problem. i'm maintaining my three tercels along with three others that friends and relatives have. i say "dread" because i know sooner or later one of those 6 cars are going to start up with that problem agai...

oops! left out spring in carb
I re-assembled a tercel carb this weekend and realized i forgot to install the accelerator pump spring. Side by side everything seems to work the same as a carb with the spring intact. Does that spring really need to be in there? Since it is under the accelerator pump piston it would push the piston...

Re: Tough clutch pedal and knocking
I would give 350.00 max with a knocking engine and put another engine it, as long as the body and tranny were in good shape. the engine probably leaks oil out the main seals anyway (with that many miles). The knocking may go away and never come back ( i have had this happen). If knocking quiets down...

Re: Air filter to air cleaner assy. gaskets?
Hi, new here but have been on club4ag as ae86chico for years. Sure I could just snip & shorten them but I'm concerned that a dirt leak may develop at the point where I butt them back together. I've done the snip and shorten several times. Used Goop to glue it down. After initial glue up I allow...
