Re: Improving Tercel Visibility

So years later I had an 86 hatchback with a similar bumper shape, and so I installed a couple of supplementary LED signal flashers on the side of the rubber bumper moulding. Excellent solution :!: Very nice installation and better than most OEM solutions that I have seen. On new vehicles, I have tr...

Re: Improving Tercel Visibility

Any chance you can send a close up of the LED lights? Hey, Blank_Man. I got these at AutoZone and they fit perfectly snug in the grill openings. I stuck them on plexiglass so I would not have to rely on friction or glue to hold them in. Also, I can remove them as sets, like when I had to repaint th...

Re: Official Toyota 1985 Tercel Repair Manual

Here is a PDF version we have a link to in the General tab “Library of Links” https://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8103 Chris Whew! That gets me off the hook - scanning that entire manual page by page would have been a daunting task. Like I said, you folks are light years ahead of m...

Official Toyota 1985 Tercel Repair Manual

Being new to this group and having read through several of your posts, old and recent, I quickly realized that you folks are light years ahead of me, with your knowledge and experience with the Tercel. What has impressed me the most is the creativity, ingenuity, and sharing among the members - amazi...

Re: Flying Cars are here.. in your driveway actually

When your car is named after a bird... Tercel is the name of a Male Hawk. Literal translation found on the internet Since Tercels and helicopters are two of my favorite vehicles, having a working one of these would be absolutely awesome :!: I and my Tercelicopter could fly off to Nevernever Land an...

Re: WTB - Looking for a Tercel!

getting an older car into Canada is not such a big deal, you have to plan ahead and send the paper work info (title, bill of sale, etc.) ahead to the crossing point you intend to use, present it at the border when you drive through. Excellent information! Thanks. I have been on the buying end more ...

Re: AE86 & AE82 Corolla parts swapping to AL25 Tercels?

Toyota is kind of odd about parts interchangeability, if they get a factory authorization with a "superseded" part number, they will sell it to you. but if you ask for the Tercel part, and it is NLA, and than ask for a part number that is from a corolla, they will tell you they are not &q...

Re: Big Boys Don't Cry - Or Do They?

Hi ALive, Don't sell it! I would be reaching out to Toyota clubs, forums and tradeschools who might be able to recoommend someone like a student or retiree that needs extra work. Remember it doesn't have to be beautiful as its under side like NWMO mentioned and if you can manage the prep work yours...

Re: Tercel Rear Seat Shoulder Belt

Hi ALive. Yes, in Australia we had mandatory inertia reel belts in the back of all Tercels (Tercel 4wd Wagon was the only vehicle of the range offered here) so I imagine the tooling would have been to expensive to change for USA so they just covered the holes. they also came with a neat little hook...

It looks like that over the years you have discovered many or most of the Tercel secrets. Found some gems, you have.

Tercel Rear Seat Shoulder Belt

When I got my Tercel SR5, it only had rear seat lap belts. However, we needed to strap in a child safety seat and knew that later we would want/need our child strapped in with a shoulder seat belt, in the back seat. If I recall correctly, I inquired about shoulder seat belts at our local Toyota deal...

Re: boiling battery - sign of a bad battery, or bad alternator?

Like I said, I measured the voltage and it's charging at just under 14.5 V. Not crazy high, in fact I thought that was fine until I looked online. I guess my concern at this point is that I replace the alternator or VR only to find it still puts over 14 V. Maybe these troubleshooting pages from the...
