Re: What is the average Idling gas consumption in a 3A engine?
Dumindu, I would expect your calculations are off by roughly a factor of two (which is likely closer than my internet search). I don't see the math error, but expect the 12:1 air/fuel ratio is by mass, not volume. I know my cars gets approximately 26 mpg on the highway. Driving 60 mph (roughly 2,900...

Re: What is the average Idling gas consumption in a 3A engine?
Dumindu,
From an internet search, smaller gas engines should roughly burn 1/6 gallon of fuel per hour while idling. Thus, 0.5 liters should idle for 50 minutes, 0.25 liter should idle for 25 minutes, etc. I have never tested the Tercel, so I can't say if this is a good approximation or not.

Re: Tonneau cover what should I get
Hey all, "Gedur" recently joined the site and indicated in his response email "Hi, my car is 2004 Toyota Tacoma 2 Dr STD Standart Cab LB." If anybody can offer advise, I am sure he would appreciate it, even if it isn't a Tercel. Gedur - this site is devoted to the 83'-88' Tercel ...

Re: Situation... flooded float bowl & rough unsustainable idle after new pump/dizzy/starter
Hey SST and Peter, I have experienced this on a couple of occasions, both times after driving slowly up a hill in the pasture. If I pour fuel into the bowl, the car will start up and the pump will catch up, but I've assumed it is the ethanol fuel "boiling" out of the bowl. I can see/hear t...

Thanks Mattel
Thanks to everyone for picking up the slack while I was out of the country. Nice vaca, but glad to be back. Chichen Itza, VW and newer VW pickup. We saw some similar little Dodges as well that aren’t available in the US.

Re: ISO front differential with mounts for 83-84
Nice looking rig Shane, I would expect the roof racks were added later, possibly by a dealer, but not likely. There were a few variations of roof racks that were likely production, but they all bolted through the roof. Nice car, love the seats. My project car is an 83’ with the brown (like your blue...

Re: ISO front differential with mounts for 83-84
Welcome Shane, What part of the country are you in? Salvage yards are a possibility or CL searching for a low $$ parts car. There is currently a thread dealing with this replacement, though many choose to swap the whole front assembly (diff, axles, brakes, etc.). While reman axles are not popular he...

Re: Issues with 4AC swap in a 1981 DLX
EricK, When I say the shaft didn't move, I mean we were sure it stayed where we put it as we guided it through. I was really concerned about the shaft rotating out of position from finagling the distributor while trying to get it to mesh, figuring it wouldn't take much for it to end up off a tooth. ...

Elisdee, It seems Jimmy Buffet has a song on one of his earliest albums titled Elisdee (may be spelled different). I prefer his island music to his earliest albums. I am getting ready to mount a kayak carrier on my car, I figure they will provide some drag, but I only ecpect to go shorter distances ...

Last time I checked, Fastenal was shipping in their freight trucks as well, but that was a few years ago.
