The vac advance works on light load/high vacuum situations. It will advance the timing when you are lightly on the gas. Floor it and the vac advance retards back to its initial position. Thats the general workings of a vac advance I believe the 2 hoses that go to the vac advance are a manifold vac l...

The gas filter is a source of vacuum. It supplies vac to alot of the major components. I believe its purpose is to not allow gas into the vac lines, not that gas would really travel up the airstream. The gas filter should be connected to the vacuum advance canister. The most bottom nipple on the can...

well, a good short term fix would be to go and set the warm idle higher, to say 1100-1200 rpm. This is easily 10 second job with a screwdriver. My car, which idles at 900 when warm and 1500 when cold, will die if i kick down to hot idle too soon (0-15 seconds) There could be some other problems with...

what problems are you having/does it have? Theres no cheap replacement thats easy to do just to drive it home. A weber replacement, while not very hard, isnt something to do on a new car right before a long trip. The problem might not even be fuel related, but one of the many other problems that are...

you might be confusing them with the v700's How well do the tires grip? Do they work well on snow? I'd consider a set if they can handle snow decently. Sorry, no experience with the tire itself. I'd expect it to be fairly noisy. My studded tires are pretty noisy on pavement, but it seems to be less ...

if you really need a shift fork, its 99% sure to be made of steel. Alum shift forks dont make any sense. The part you need will probably need to be ordered from a dealer, and even they might have trouble getting it. You should also try transmission shops. My local jy wants 150 for a tranny that you ...

How to diagnose engine hesitation, stumble, jerking, bucking
When I got my 83, it was in sad shape, broken radiator, doors and windows that wouldn’t open, absolutely no power, wouldn’t idle, and the engine would cut out at random times. I decided to write a bit about my progress so it could help other people out diagnosing their engine hesitatio...

vacuum advance canisters
On my last trip the the jy i got a whole bunch of vacuum advance cans for distributers. They came off of various 3 and 4a's and 3E's i believe. If anyone needs one, just let me know here. All work (i tested before i pulled them) and would be very cheap compared to what the dealer or autoparts stores...

No need to appologize. My electronics skills are not the best, I took a few EE classes but i'm a mechanical. A relay will have 4 wires. 2 of them are signal wires and 2 of them are output wires. The output wires would be your hot power source. One would go to the battery and the other to the positiv...

well, the way i see it, theres 3 ways to go about it 1) wire the lights directly into the stock wiring. This means you will be drawing more amps that originally planned. However, since you wont use it alot and the wiring is fairly beefy, you should be able to get away with it. What you would do is w...

thanks to the OP, i decided to do mine today. Fuel level has always shown slightly above empty ( i just got the car and it has a full tank) On the 4wd wagon, the sensor is right next to the spare tire, to the right. No need to mess with the seats or anything. Just open the hatch and pull up the carp...
