I have the '87 SR5... Pretty sure it's not hydraulic. Actually, unless I'm really stupid, it's not - just a cable between the clutch peddle and the clutch actuator lever on the transmission

How do locking hubs work? That might be an option to disengage the front drive components....

If you are going rwd, I'd just go rwd... With the setup we have, I just don't see it as feasible to be able to selectively disengage the fwd...

I actually did make my car rwd only by running it with the gutted front diff, but the problem was what to do with the front drive shafts, lol.

Actually, I'm not a good candidate for an engine swap at this point, because my original engine only has about 50k miles on it, and ran well the little bit I've run it.

if you need an empty front differential housing to play with, I have my original just sitting here.. the differential grenaded with < 50k miles, which is how I ended up with the car!

Cool... I was actually going to grab the whole suspension piece, but I'll just have the stud pressed out and a new one pressed in, thanks!

Weird Al: You shouldn't have to replace the whole hub, you could just have a new stud pressed in. Out of curiousity, is your Geo Prizm the GSI model? If so it has a high-comp toyota made 4age engine. This is the version of the engine that is pretty rare now. If this is what you have, please take ca...

Not sure, i think they're the same. Anyone know if there's 13 inch rims i can put on my tercel? My car needs new shoes! The '90 corolla 13" wheels fit for sure, so the '88-92 should fit. Heck, I picked up a '90 geo prizm (corolla) for $200 at a local auction... It's ugly, but I've put 20...

anyone know if these are the same between our 4wd's and the normal fwd's? I broke one of the wheel studs removing the lug nut, so I guess I'll be needing one (front right, I believe).

I like the idea of jacking up the front of the engine, I think that might do the trick. The biggest problem is it's just me... I'm a relatively big guy and have a couple floor jacks to help me, but I have large hands and forearms that hinder me a bit too on the tight spaces. Not sure I want to pull ...

Ok, I've done it successfully twice (although not easily), but I'm stuck this time. Basically, the problem is getting the input shaft in, there just doesn't seem to be enough room with the rear of the bellhousing (and the clutch lever) hitting the body. It seems like it's in place, but the input sha...

yeah, this was about a year ago, wish I'd taken pictures... it landed right on my face and chest. Had nice bruises, lol. I laid there for probably a minute under the weight if it before I could gather myself and push it off - big fun!
