Re: In search of passengers side mirror

The mirrors from any 85-88 wagon will fit yours, FYI. The ones on 83-84 wagons are different though -- they will fit require some modifications best just to stick with the 85-88 wagon ones.

Have you tried car-part.com? It's a great resource for finding parts like this.

Re: Something broken with the *forums*? Post here!

I am not seeing the ‘new topic’ button from my iPhone. I just got a new phone and am still navigating it so it could be on my end. Should I enable a desktop mode? I’ve searched all around this site and cannot find how to post a new topic. Thanks! On the home/board index page, click on the appropria...

Re: Trip Meter Failed on The ROCKET

IMG_1981.jpeg Reviving an old thread because there are no other threads on this here, surprisingly. I have a spare cluster but the trip meter didn’t work on it. It would work for a bit then get stuck at random numbers. That bugged me because I always track my fuel economy. I finally got around to t...

Not many pics in that ad but from what we can see, it looks like the body is in good shape.

That's not Mr. Wrench's car for sale, he was just sharing the ad with you. Message the seller through FB.

new 1st/2nd gear synchros available

Untitled.jpg Robert made a post about this on the facebook page but I wanted to post it here so it's easier to find in the future. He ordered NEW synchros for 1st/2nd gears (the synchro is the same for both gears) from a company called Amayama. He hasn't installed them yet but he says they look cor...

Sorry to hear about this, smellis. I agree with Toyotise's advice. It seems like there are still a good number of decent ones available throughout the US so I'm hopeful you can find another soon.

Re: Collapsed Rings? Bad idle..

I verified that timing was at least close by removing and reinserting distributor per FSM instructions. Not sure why it was backfiring through the carb, though. Worrisome to me. I'm not sure what the FSM instructions are but what I do when I have to reset the timing: - remove the #1 spark plug - pu...

Re: Idling too long?

i have come across posts about webers preferring an electric fuel pump instead of the oem, or even just a pressure regulator ? There is no need for an electric fuel pump, but a fuel pressure regulator is important with a weber because the stock fuel pump and carb use a fuel pressure of 6 or 7 psi, ...

Re: Tercel differential rebuild questions

The other day I jumped into my Jetta after driving the wagon for a few weeks. I was shocked at how smooth and quiet it drove. I guess there's a trade-off to driving a T4WD! :D I had a similar incident recently. I had been driving the Tercel for a month or so, then needed to drive our 1991 Corolla w...

Re: What size tires?

The size of tire you can run partly depends on the offset of the wheels you are running. For example, I have run slightly larger tires on stock wheels with no problems, but a set of similar sized tires on Honda alloys with a different offset (which I hadn't considered before that) ended up rubbing. ...

Re: Ignition Key

I have had bad luck with hardware store making keys for Tercels, and older (pre-2000s) cars in general. They find blanks that are close but they aren't quite right and don't work. So now I only go to my local lock and key place, they have the right blanks and the keys work well each time.

Chris, I can't remember -- is the access hole in your pic stock, and normally covered with a plug? I think I recall members here removing the plug to spray rust penetrant on the nut but am not sure, it's been a long time since I've seen those posts.

Re: working on Terc2

What is the control arm hardware mod for? The bolts for the control arms thread into a captive nut that cannot be accessed without some serious messing around. Occasionally, due to corrosion between the bolt and nut, the welds on the captive nuts can break when trying to remove the bolt and now you...

Re: Tercel differential rebuild questions

Found this video which describes it as a loose pinion nut https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvmZ1xNTzAE&ab_channel=TomMorton Wow, neat video. I've never heard or seen anything like that before. If this is indeed the same problem as you are having, I wonder what caused it to happen. Like I mention...
