Re: Stuff for the T4WD guy who has everything....

For headlight resto I use 3M part # 39008. Costs about $15. If the lenses are really bad you will need this kit. It has 500,800,3000 grit discs w/adapter and a polishing pad/polish.

Re: CV Joint Boot Installation Tool

Seen a similar tool years ago and it did require special "universal" boots and plenty of lube. While better than a split boot I was very unimpressed. I could properly reboot most cars in about a half hour on the car. Some, like the terc had to be serviced from the inner requiring a shaft r...

Proportions are off slightly but I would say absolutely! The only thing missing is an "eat me" license plate.

Has there ever been another car with an off center rear plate?

To determine diff ratios- Divide ring gear teeth by pinion teeth.

Example- 41 ring gear teeth divided by 10 pinion= 4.10

Re: Voltage Drop and headlight performance

The gauge wire on those harnesses don't look any bigger than stock. If you want mondo, it's DIY. Ease of installation is the only thing going for those kits as far as I'm concerned. Silverstars do have one drawback. Shorter lifespan. I've seen it and they now state that clearly on the package. There...

Re: 89 civic 4wd on MPLS CL $700

My cousin was looking for a beater so we went to check it out.

It's pretty rough. The pics don't do it justice. Unless I was desperate for an old 4wd wagon, I'd call it a parts car.

Re: Duck Duct Tape's Defiant Dilemma

I've been using the "gorilla" brand for a while now. Very heavy duty. Even the large patch I made on a lebaron convertible top lasted over 2 years until the trans crapped out.

Re: Eight miles from shore

No...I meant the pic. I guess Mattracks is the brand of that extra axle? And I'm assuming that is a fishing hut...not an outhouse. I haven't been out on the ice in awhile.... The S10 pooper is definitely a homemade job. I don't know the whole story. I think they only use it to move their ...

Re: Eight miles from shore

OK grammar police :) I took this pic a few years ago at the same "resort", and I use that term very loosely. The sign coming in says resort. But It's pretty much fishhouses and 50's era camper trailers sitting in the woods near shore. Most have no elec or anything else for amenities. Total...

Re: Voltage Drop and headlight performance

It works. The older the car the more likely it will help. Most newer cars are not fully relay'd either and would also benefit. For all you frugal T4 owners out there looking to upgrade. I recently found a cheap source for relays and prewired sockets http://site.mcminone.com/product/MCM-AUDIO-SELECT-...

Re: Eight miles from shore

Oh and BTW splatterdog, I would like to see you dress-up your Terc with a rear spoiler, maybe lower it, put some ground effects on it, 18" rims, low-profile tires, and more stuff.. Then drive it on this lake.... 8) Sorry "dude". We are obviously on different wavelengths. Possibly eve...

Re: Hotter spark for next to nothing?

A relay feeding the component direct batt voltage can certainly help. Relays draw about 1/4 amp putting very little demand on a typical 15a circuit. 20 year old switches can live with that reduction. Direct power from the batt will increase output over a circuit with numerous connections(crimps,term...

I've had 2 ign coils on 2 cars go right at around 20yrs/200k. 2 alternators on the 84 in the almost 10 years I've had it. NEVER had an ecm,tps one two or three, cmp, ckp,ks,digital egr or dpfe system, maf, map, iac, tcs, etc failure. Oh, and a few light bulbs, and corroded but fixable door jamb swit...

Wow is that google ad bar good! Anybody see the marcorubber.com link? http://www.marcorubber.com/orings.htm Lots of info. Just learned the name of an inadequate lube installation problem off their failure analysis page. "spiral failure". I have seen this before, just didn't know it had a n...

Re: Bypass Hose o-ring!

Not a bad question. I haven't seen any signs of degradation. Vaseline is nothing like a true lubricant. You can put it on your lips(not that I do). I remember reading once that the inventor or company pres long ago ate some everyday even. yuck! It does however provide more lubricity than water or co...
