The main reason that the pressure in the oil is an issue is that it seems normal at start up but after running for a while it is noticabley increased. There seems to be an antifreeze smell in there too. I think I'll try retorking the bolts first, but I assume that it needs the head machining. Thanks...

head gasket question

A question about heads and gaskets. I replaced the head gasket on my 87 sr5 since it was pumping pressure and gas vapour through the rad when running. Now it's running a little better, but once hot there is a fair bit of pressure in the oil (oil splutters out the oil filler cap when open). Also see ...

I got an 87 with 4ac from a guy in Washington. Haven't really driven it much, besides the drive back to Calgary. I have redone the head gasket and the rediator. Hoping to do the carb and then a lift when I get it running good.

I think those are the same springs I put in mine a ways back. They added some height for sure. I've also had trouble with the cap on top of the strut tube. I used the new ones that came with the struts but now wish I'd suck with the old ones. They have come loose on both sides now, most recently on ...

I've had some great road trips and good nights sleep in Chateau Tercel.
I've made do with foamies and filling in the rear foot wells with bags transfering all the gear such as snowboards to the front seats.
Good luck with the bed construction.

I just took off my winter studded 185/80/13 tires. I put on the summer (all season) 205/70/14 tires. Way quieter and nice smooth ride. The winter tires on 13's are only slightly smaller diameter than the 14's. I like the 14's a lot and I think they look pretty good on the aluminum rims from a dodge ...

Can you tell me what dgvs means?
I'm interested in a carb swap as well. The weber sounds like the most popular option.
Seems like the main hurdles are the adapter plate, smaller air cleaner or a hole in the hood, and maybe a lower pressure fuel pump.
Is there anything else to consider?

toyota Hi Ace van window

My gf has a hi ace 4wd diesel van imported from Japan (rt hand drive). Some punks smashed her passenger door window the other day just to steal some cd's. Anyone got any contacts for getting a replacement window? Any other vehicles have a compatible window? She's got some good contacts working on it...

I'd say it's only a few percent of tercel drivers I see that actually look. And mine's bright orange, hard to miss. Most of them are rust buckets out here so many tercel owners are probably just hanging on with theirs maybe. The best sighting I had was when I saw an army green tercel coming the othe...

my steering is clunky, but not sticky. I was told I need to replace the u-joint part in the steering shaft.
Is it easy to replace?

To clean the pistons I just grabbed a spray can of solvent off the shelf, I think it was carb cleaner, sprayed some on a rag and gave em a good wiping. I don't remember what year camry I got the rad from. I just looked for one with pipes in the right spots. Here's the code from the top of the rad. M...

finally changed my plugs

So I finally changed my plugs in my 84 tercel. I know I put new ones in when I got it at 170,000km and probably changed them again sometime after 200,000km. It has definitely been a while and now I'm at 300,000km. Here's some pics of the plugs. I think they were possibly v groove plugs, but they are...
