Exhaust pipe bolts
Hey all, Does anyone here know what the OEM bolts size is for the two bolts that hold the intermediate pipe to the Cat. are. I would like to replace them with stainless steel.

Re: Radiator fan works opposite of what its supposed to
The fan relay in the engine fuse box is normally closed (N.C.). The temperature switch in the bottom of the radiator is also N.C., which supplies the ground to the fan relay when water temp. is not hot, energizing the fan relay and causing it to open preventing the fan motor from working. Conversely...

Re: Exhaust intermediate pipe
Thanks for the replies, Though even if removing the cat would make up for the length, which I know it will not, wouldn't be more labor intensive and invasive than what I spoke about doing with a section of flexible pipe to replace the rusted section of the original pipe, which except for the aforeme...

Re: Exhaust intermediate pipe
Ok, back again with some newly found information. Apparently the Walker 46691 intermediate pipe which as has been found by many, and now including myself to be to long, is for vehicles that were shipped to Canada. The correct Walker pipe, also probably obsolete for U.S. destined cars, is the Walker ...

Re: Once a month engine dies and wont restart
The problem sounds very similar to the one I had: (see OEM carburetor issues), only in my case it would be more than once a month. When it doesn't start I would first check if fuel had pooled in intake manifold. Then pull a wire and check for spark. In my case the coil which tested faulty as per FSM...

Re: Best tires for the money?
Decided to go with Walmart's Solar 175/70R/13 4xs tires priced @$34.41. They are apparently made by Sumitomo rubber company. The car rides very nicely and appears to be quieter/stable than the Michelins being replaced. They give a 45,000 limited warrantee. The total cost with tax and balancing was $...

Re: Exhaust intermediate pipe
Thanks for all the replies! Not to beat this subject to death (love that expression), but just curious why some have stated that the Walker 46691 pipe has to be shortened on the flange side. I sent an email to the Walker tech. support contact that I have been corresponding with and she maintains tha...

Re: OEM carburetor issue
Just realized that I didn't report about the final outcome, sorry. As it turned out the carb. was not the problem, but rather the ignition coil was defective. The occasions where the engine would not start and gas pooled in the intake manifold was a result of the coil not always producing spark and ...

Best tires for the money?
Hello again, Walmart has many tire options for 175/70R13 size and was curious if the board has a recommendation?

Re: Exhaust intermediate pipe
Thanks for the replies! Did some research of my own, including several mails/conversations with Walker/Tenneco. The original Toyota intermediate pipe as on my Tercel has a bolted on heat shield. The Walker 46691 pipe was said to be fabricated from air-gap type (pipe with in a pipe) tube to provide s...

Exhaust intermediate pipe
Happy holiday? unfortunately the Walker replacement pipe has been discontinued and looking for a alternative to being at the mercy of the local muffler shop, who has stated it will take a while and the car need be left there for a few days. Has anyone successfully used flexible pipe as a alternative...

Re: Cooling fan relay blowing
Thanks for the reply and offer! What do yo mean by blower assy? Anyway by using a different voltmeter and different wire connections it was determined that the cooling fan is drawing 4.5-4.8 amps. which seams to be normal and should not be causing the relay to blow out. I am wondering if it is becau...

Cooling fan relay blowing
At first it was thought that the radiator cooling fan was inoperative due to a electrical problem. Unfortunately after spend a good deal of time trouble shooting and replacing the fan relay, which had blown twice, it was discovered that the fan its self was the culprit. The fan blade was very rough ...

Re: Leaf Lament or Vent Vexations
Thanks for the reply! What I was referring to about the addition of the rubber inner tube, is that water could linger in the small area around the wiper post, possibly causing a rust issue of the surrounding cowl sheet metal. This is why I asked if you put some small weep holes at the low point of t...

Re: Leaf Lament or Vent Vexations
Was there ever a conclusion to the water leaking problem? I have removed the wiper cowl and fortunately things looked pretty good inside, no rust except for a little surface flash rust on the wiper control rods and a small section of the cowl floor. These areas were treated with Eastwood's rust enca...
