Re: Front struts with spring perch?

ARCHINSTL - Sorry to confuse things. As for the 'rears' I did indeed mean rear shocks. Should have clarified that in the first place, but as we were talking about front shocks I assumed that "rears" would imply same. I was actually pleasantly surprised to get the fr shocks with the tube/pe...

Re: Water Pump Bearing Failure?

For what it is worth, the factory pump comes complete with the back half of the housing, all for under $100. Brand spanking new, not a rebuild. Just make sure to get the o-ring for the back where the pipe bolts on. Make sure you replace the by-pass o-rings same time, heck for another $5 replace the ...

Re: Front struts with spring perch?

This probably isn't the answer you are looking for but they are still available from the dealer. Pt# 48510-16690 This is the strut "assembly" complete with the lower perch. CDN list $207.50ea. (as of 27Nov08) My dealer takes 10% off, so the pair was $373.50 + taxes. They had to pull them o...

Re: buying a tercel 4wd wagon

Plastic liner in the wheel well comes out and gives nice access to the antenna base, better than destroying the fender.

Re: wiper linkage

There are no pics to be found in any manual. IIRC there should be short crank arm on the motor. wiper transmission snaps onto that arm and connects the 2 pivots to the motor. Arm on the motor will likely part of the motor assembly. If you problem is on the arm to the pivots, that arm should come wit...

Re: Gas tank size?

Neu - you will never get accurate mileage numbers by using tank size. Fill it full, note the mileage then drive. When you refill, note your mileage again. The number of miles travelled since your last fill divided by the amount of fuel you just put in is the only way to be reasonably accurate. I say...

Re: Another Anomaly - Windshield Wiper Department

On a further note. As to the seemingly coincidental electrical ghosts. I too started tracing all the ground points, looking for a bad connection, a bared wire, something, anything. In the end, it seemed to have more to do with heat than ghosts. A one particularly long drive, intermittent came back o...

Re: Another Anomaly - Windshield Wiper Department

I have the same problem, but there is a fix, well 2 in fact. The easy way is go to the dealer, drop $340 and replace the switch. The poor man's solution, take the switch off and take it apart. Take a REALLY close look at the printed circuit board, you should be able to see the connection at fault, t...

Re: Torontonian Tercel Owners

Turtles in Toronto, wow. I have only run into 2 others on the road, both around Leslie st spit. You guys must be in hiding someplace. Dave if you really want used mounts, come on over, just replaced all 3, none were torn but all were compressed a bit. Was gonna keep them for a rainy day, but then ag...

Re: depressing oil leak

I have seen a lot of people chase oil leaks, usually starts with a valve cover gskt then it will be the cam seal..... In the end most are frustrated and cursing the engineers who designed and built the darn thing. 99 times out of 100 the real fix has been to clear the breather/pcv systems, with age ...

Re: carburators

ARCHINSTL - Thanks and my apologies on the handle. Freudian slip, perhaps. Checked rockauto but at I am probably better off doing my own. (no core, no shipping, no UPS annoyance charges, no one else to blame..) In a past life, I was a Suzuki parts manager and I remember the Forsa'a had 2 different l...

carburators

Okay, so now that the engine is sorted out and all the little bits are back to working together, I find I still have an occasional bog at low speed and sometimes it overfuels at idle, (which could of course be as simple as accelerator pump + needle/seat, then again...) Down side, is there is still 3...

reborn turtle

Turtle has been a little unhappy of late. Running out of poop on the long highway hills (revs dropping off with speed) not too mention pinging it's fool head off, stumbling off idle, smoking intermittently, oddly fluctuating engine temps and then the last straw, smell of burnt clutch when climbing t...

Didn't mean to hijack this thread. Back to the original question - just logged 470km on 36L. (( 30.9 mpg(US)) mixed.
