Auto trans, not moving in 2wd
So check this out, Ive got a 88 4wd auto wagon in the shop at the moment. Theres no drive in FWD, but it moves fine in 4wd. Axles are fine, the front diff is fine from what Ive been told. I looked through my book and the only place I can think of is right here.....the splines where the trans mates w...

Strange...my 85 has it. I think it became an option with the 2nd gen of the wagons. The 85-88s.

The HAC is the thing with the red top right? I was gonna save all of this anyway for the 85's restore.
Yeah, the hatches are the same, you can see where the rear seats in the 4wd wagons sit further back closer to the rear windows.

Here it is! The parts donor. The parts of the shell that I need are in great shape, totally rust free. The doors are SPOTLESS. Inside, outside, they're GREAT. Which is awesome cause Mints doors are completely rotted out. The windshield is also pretty much perfect which makes me really happy. The Bat...

Re: LSD Solution
A corolla GTS rear axle can likely be retro fitted to the Tercel4wd, with several brands of costly conventional limited slip differential available. But likely you would have hours of work, and perhaps $1500 or more into it to get it to work. The Tercel would also likely gain 80 to 100 lbs more wei...

Re: I bought another one! I shall call her MINT and she'll be FRESH
10-4 Ill take a look. Good news! Ive got a line on a parts car! Its a 2wd automatic, the rocker panels are already cut out and it doesnt have a title, but that means Ill feel less bad about cutting it up for patch panels. When I get it to the house in the next week or so Ill have some pictures. So s...

Re: The battle wagon
Glad to know Im not the only one with the interesting timing. Ive replaced my battery cables since then and I havent noticed a change. Its still way up there somewhere. But its happy with no pinging so its staying there. Thats interesting about the 4a head with the bosses. I actually traded my buste...

Alright, part two with the 3a/4a hybrid. I had taken the beast down to the beach for a weekend with the untouched 4a and actually got to ride across a spit of the atlantic on a ferry. http://i.imgur.com/jeBxOcZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6m3vkJp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ceC6PVf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qtKe...

Re: The battle wagon
Wow...I went through and started re-hosting images so that they'd exist again and realized I skipped quite a bit! So I added some in where appropriate. However, for some reason I completely skipped the tube doors and the 4a/3a accidental hybrid. Doh'! First the tube doors, they were done at the same...

Re: Air ride suspension?
I think your best option, would be head to the yard, and find a vehicle with the same size or shorter strut thats more common, and see if they make bagged struts for it. Of course, you could make your own, but that might be a little more intensive then you want.
Re: Saying hi
x2 on that overdrive gear. I dont think Ive ever used it in any vehicle Ive towed with when towing. Manual or automatic. Ive towed a 5x12 single axle trailer behind the wagon back when I still had the stock motor...pretty slow on the hills around here. Braking wasnt that big of a deal till I had a d...
