Re: 85 Tercel 4wd (Topanga)
an easy (read cheap) wheel upgrade is to paint the stock steelies silver, ditch the stock center caps, and install 2wd centers. makes a world of differnce IMO. i absolutely HATE the looks of the white steel wheels- reminds me of the old "wagon wheels" used on yank trucks back in the day (...

Re: ZDDP based oil, a must for flat tappet cams
My previous powerboat had a bone-stock chev 305 in it, and after 9-10 years of use, developed a strange oil pressure problem- at WOT (4200rpm) the pressure was closer to 0 than 10 psi- the gauge was accurate. After a few years of running it that way , i got scared, pulled the engine and tore it apar...

Re: Old cars, friends and family
Worked for a MB dealer thru the '70s. In '72-'73 a 280se 4.5 sold for 10k. After30k miles and about 3 years it was due for it's first BIG service and if the customer left the shop with a bill of less than $1000, he turned down work! Keep in mind, that's 10% of the original purchase price. Filters al...

Re: Removing engine from automatic trans
Got it- sorry for the delay- took a while to find the thing. Why is it that whenever you're huntin' something- it's always in the LAST place you look?? Anyway- how's $15 + $6 shipping sound? I was kinda hoping someone would want the whole transaxle(they've got to be REAL rare) but apparently that's ...

Re: Hi from New Mexico
If you like your gen 1 tercel- you're gonna LOVE a tercel wagon (2 or 4wd.) Years ago i bought an '82 loaded 4 door (air, p/s, and a/c.) PO had run it with no engine oil and put a rod thru the side of the block. Engine still ran (leaked oil tho.) I rebuilt a junkyard motor , installed it and re-sold...
