Re: Front hub assembly for parts / ?
I doubt it has any salvage value, once the diff mount gets buggered up it would be too risky to try and rebuild it and use it. is is essentially scrap metal. the relationship between all the gear teeth, the housing and the internal components is very sensitive and it would require a complete re-mac...

Front hub assembly for parts / ?
So I finally disassembled the front hub I have to check it over and it does have damage inside. Passenger side C clamp is cracked and it threw out the brass shim. The pinion gear has one of the teeth missing. Everything else looks okay for the most part. I'm not sure how much this would cost to ship...

Re: Alternate transmission mount
Interesting
I don't have access to a welder so I won't be able to do that though

Alternate transmission mount
Ebay is saying that the Westar EM-8377 transmission mount fits our 4wd transmissions
has anyone tried one out to see if that's true? Or does someone have a transmission mount to compare to the picture? It looks kind of like it but i'm not sure

Re: 4WD selector shaft seal
I bought all the transmission seals from O'Reilly's in 2016, you can still find them there
I posted them in a thread here somewhere

1986 distributor
Just replaced my whole distributor so I can post the original factory one here
Worked fine but the pickup coil tested bad on the resistance test. Both vacuum advances work
I’ll sell it for like $50 to recoup some funds

Re: Coil inspection
so I pulled the distributor and it turns out both diaphragms are working fine, the top one had a cap on the other port that was dried out and leaking Well I already bought a new distributor so I guess I can sell this old one, the only problem is the pickup coil needs to be replaced since the resista...

Re: Coil inspection
Also I changed the oil and accidentally broke off a red w/white stripe wire that went over the oil filter... what is that for? Edit: I traced the wire and it goes to the AC clutch so RIP my ac for now The secondary diaphragm does not pull vacuum under idle, but pulls vacuum when I'm on the throttle ...

Coil inspection
I’m going through the coil inspection from the service manual and it says the pick up coil should measure between 130-190 ohms When I tested the two wire points on mine, it measured 2500 ohms so I’m assuming that is not correct. It says to replace the pick up coil and the breaker assembly but how ex...

Re: Corolla brake upgrade
I got a set of brass plated ones but they have an extended tip on them which measures about 5mm longer than the threads, which are 50mm, so in total it's way too long
I'm gonna get them cut down at my friend's machine shop to 45mm and that should make them useable

Re: Coolant leak?
Could always wait until it cools down and use a rental pressure tester from the parts store. I could smell coolant after my engine rebuild a few weeks ago. I was a little nervous because I couldn't find anything and it was not dropping very quickly from the overflow tank. The one I rented from Auto...

Re: Custom EGR System with Weber Carb
The EGR reduces compustion pressures and peak temperatures when it is in operation, that can not improve economy. It reduces efficiency, reduces fuel economy. It dilutes the incoming air with exhaust by lowering the O2 concentration, reducing the max amount of fuel that can be burned in the combust...

Re: Coolant leak?
JD, I would be doing a visual inspection when at operating temp. It may be that the leak is slow enough and in a spot that doesn't get to the ground easily, allowing any leaked coolant to be evaporated before showing itself. Thus the odor, the loss, but no puddling. Here are a few spots I would che...

Coolant leak?
My engine bay smells like coolant and the coolant has been mysteriously disappearing but I cannot find a coolant leak anywhere The overflow bottle also has a layer of what looks like grease on the inside but the coolant itself is completely clean I have drained and refilled it several times already ...

Re: Corolla brake upgrade
Just did a FULL install and it turns out the new wheel studs are way too long to use the stock nuts with
I also couldn’t get them pressed in. The new ones measure 14.22 on the knurl and the old ones measured 14 so I think I need smaller ones
50mm was too long for nuts that aren’t open end
