Re: rear tailshaft housing seal & tranny fluid flush
the spilled gear oil had less to do with what i was using and more to do with this being my first time ever doing a trans flush. and had i been smarter at the time, i would have taken a clean 4 L oil jug, cut the bottom off of it, threaded the hose extension onto it, and used that as a funnel. that'...

Re: Glenda accessorizes herself: head, stereo
it's funny, synth design is doing stereo stuff too. must be the nice weather inspiring everyone. i found the sub to make a big difference. cool you got a slim one. my whole stereo set up ('dual' brand CD/ipod player, 4" and 6.5" speakers, amp & sub) cost me a grand total of $300, and i...

Re: scraping noise
water pumps are cheap and you can get a used alternator at a wrecker. the alternator only takes a minute to swap, the water pump has a few steps but is also easy. be sure to use a gasket sealer along with the gasket, other members recently did the same work and had leaks instantly without the stuff.

Re: Speaker recomendations
omg, you're NEVER too old for a well-balanced sound system! i imagine 6x9s would have some oomph to them but probably not as much as a sub. i don't pound music, i just like everything to be really crisp and clear, including the low end, and i find a sub does that really well. however, i admit ...

Re: Speaker recomendations
i honestly haven't noticed much difference in brands. anything that isn't super cheap sounds pretty decent, and a lot of the sound is dependent on how you EQ your stereo. i've used polk, pioneer, two fancy brands i found on sale at a few places, infinity...all have sounded great. i have 4"s in ...

Re: rear tailshaft housing seal & tranny fluid flush
give me a break, the starter is held in by two 14 mm bolts. it's not a big deal to take it out. on top of that, i had no issues with having to wait for the gear oil to slowly crawl in or hand-pump anything, it just flowed right in. i used what was available and it worked fine so different strokes fo...

Re: rear tailshaft housing seal & tranny fluid flush
gmeddy, glad the thread is useful to you! i know, i wish i could find a pump bottle or something else but i didn't want to run into town that day and was limited to what the small local store had. i added more oil later on and found i didn't need to remove the battery, just the starter and unplug al...

those pics are tiny! if it really is rust free that would be a steal, especially with the sunroof. are you considering adding it to your collection?

luckily, westfalias are ONLY good for taking your time. it kind of forces you to relax because there is absolutely no way to keep up with the rest of traffic, let alone maintain the speed limit. which is fine for vacation!

Re: terk stolen!
i've never fooled around with locks at all, sorry, but in a previous post here i mentioned how another member simply moved the clutch button onto the steering column trim. it would only take a few minutes and you can be sure that no one is going to even see the button down there, let alone figure ou...

Re: terk stolen!
i agree with TJ because it seems weird that they would put the trim back on underneath the steering column. then again, if they put the trim back around the stereo afterwards...who knows. it's weird though, fo sho.

$375 - 1980 Toyota Tercel (not a wagon) - victoria bc
not a T4, it's one of the first gen tercels. looks to be in decent shape. would be a good buy for someone who was really into them.
