Re: Idling too long?
Does it change with start spray? Drive engine warm again and turn it off. Then start spraying start spray or brake cleaner into carb and see if it will start.

Re: air bubbles from tank hose at fuel filter
I did my little test but there are still bubbles! I don't know how this is possible. I disconnected the front fuel hose from the steel line and placed the end in a container of gas, then started the car and watched it. Still bubbles. I removed the hose and blew on one end while plugging the other e...

Re: 1986 sr5 on bring a trailer
Car prices can get high in auctions if someone gets really excited. The example was good but needed some work. Hopefully the new owner will repair the dents and addressed leakage issues so he can enjoy his new Tercel for a long time. I would have a bit higher requirements for 10k USD Tercel but that...

Re: Collapsed Rings? Bad idle..
Have you done correctly carb and manifold gaskets? And is your TVSV working correctly? I tried once a bad carb and suddenly a fully functional motor was not working correctly at all. Then I swapped a different carb and I checked also that all gaskets were in correct order. The result: everything wor...

Re: Remanufactured distributor bearings
Everything ok in two remaining distributors. The funny thing was that one had metallic shield and another one had rubber shields. The positive thing is that you can check distributor bearing shield by removing just distributor cap & ignition coil. So you don't need to remove distributor shaft fr...

Re: Souping up a 3A Engine
I have put up a advert for buying a 4A engine on marketplace in sweden. I think its hard to find since most old toyotas are shipped to africa and such. I was lucky to find 3 tercels for parts and they were up for parting to africa as i went there. Hopefully ill be able to find some random car left....

Re: Remanufactured distributor bearings
That's strange about the non-sealed bearings. Pretty much all generic bearings nowadays come with seals (usually metal ones for electric motors). If you want an unsealed bearing so it can be grease-able, you can always pry out the seal. It's almost like someone would have to go out of their way to ...

Re: Remanufactured distributor bearings
Do these reman'd distributors come with a new vacuum advance unit? Because those units on their own are around $150 US on ebay. I wonder if the reman'd distributor would be a cheaper option for getting new vacuum advance units. Yes they do. I have tested all of my vacuum units and they seem to be o...

Re: Souping up a 3A Engine
I wonder how they got 90hp out of Japan top spec. 3A-SU? I think that it had dual carbs, maybe bigger cam etc. So 90hp should be possible without Turbo. And a Supercharged Turbo 3A could produce even more. But I don't know if that is worth the trouble. 4A-GE swap or 4A swap could be even easier. I r...

Re: Grill retainer clips
This is a great find. I always lose at least one by trying to insert mask to them normally. The very same thing happens with door seal clips.

Remanufactured distributor bearings
Hi everyone, I just wanted to share a bit info of remanufactured distributors. I found them dirt cheap from Ebay some years ago. They have been to me a great update compared to original point ignition. But today I learned a bit more of their expected lifetime. They are built well except one little d...

Re: Turbo 4age tercel
No worries with the video. Things like that happen unfortunately sometimes. Take your time to fix everything properly and then you will be ready for another video. You always learn by doing. Today I learned for example about remanufactured distributor bearings something but more on that on another t...
