Cross-country junkyard recommendations.

Hi all, I'm planning on heading on a road trip pretty soon from Pennsylvania to SW New Mexico and am wanting to know if anyone knows of smaller junkyards with older cars that might be hard to find through the internet. While I am looking for Tercel parts I am also looking for parts that will fit my ...

Transmission bearings

Has anyone recently purchased new input shaft (particarly the inner that if worn can cause noise when clutch pedal is up), main shaft, or other commonly worn-out bearings (still figuring that out, read a lot but comprehended less) for the transmission? I plan to try calling Locate Ball Bearings when...

Re: WTB: transmission front main shaft bearings

So the last posting prior to this on this thread is years old and I figured I would warn anyone else who thought to try it that the link posted for CST Bearings does not work for that at this point. I tried it and it went to an adults only type site. Not at all helpful.

Re: Hello from N. Arizona! 80' sedan dlx fwd

Hi, Fun to hear about the car and the restoration you are doing (: Are you looking for new or used interior door handles? There are some new listed as available here with a few color options:https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem-1980-toyota-tercel-interior_door_handle.html And four from an '82 (probab...

Re: Muffler story

That's funny Ace that your car doesn't even need a muffler to be quiet enough. I didn't realize that was ever the case. Interesting to know. I mostly take my cars to shops for more thorough alignments here and there and have been going to people known by people to be decent but I'll keep in mind to ...

Re: New Tercel review on YouTube

Yeah. That would be fun too.
I finished it watching it. It was especially fun because mine is an '83 SR5 with the same interior colors so some of it looked so familiar.

I started watching it. Plan to watch the rest when I am better set up for it. Looks fun to see. Thanks for posting!

Re: Wheel Beaeing hub

I'm not sure but I don't think you can get them new anymore. I couldn't find one for my '83 and I just ran a search for '86 and anywhere that listed it said it was discontinued. If that is the case you would have to find one used. What is Australia like with used auto parts? Do you have u-pull it ya...

Re: Steering "U" joint

I took the car for a wheel alignment and the toe needed to be adjusted anyway so the fellow centered the steering wheel when he did that so while I've still got an out-of-place steering wheel it's now a centered out-of-place one (:

Re: Steering "U" joint

Yeah. I'm used to it now but I still want to replace it. I don't know either. Maybe they just wanted a thicker steering wheel? The car is labeled as rebuilt salvage but I don't think the steering wheel could have been damaged without some obvious damage to the outside and that all matches up to appe...

Re: 2023 Rocky Mountain Meet & Greet

I'm definitely interested in making it. Have to see if it will work out well though, I'm already taking off about a month between spring and summer for a different road trip and some hiking. I also really go pretty easy on my car as it's a main mode of transportation and not modified with anything h...

Re: Steering "U" joint

Do you think there will more likely be an issue getting it back on if it isn't the right steering wheel? Or do you think as long as it was made to fit once it will go back on just fine? The steering wheel is from a later model Toyota, late enough to have an airbag, I don't know why it was replaced. ...

Re: Steering "U" joint

It really went relatively easily. I did cause myself some trouble later overlooking that pinch bolts are only threaded in one side. Seems like I must have noticed that before and I see the logic. Maybe my brain was slightly fried by then. Fortunately I figured it out before I really messed something...

Re: weber carb help?

I checked four tankfuls of gas and had 28, 28, 27, 27 MPG so I think the tune-up helped. I am still figuring other things though. The timing is not too advanced unless I am confused but the engine sometimes pings severely and other times I can barely hear it. And not just because I have music on too...
