Don't forget to check the center support bearing. My bearing was fine, but the rubber around it was worn and it caused a similar problem. As far as replacement of the rear bearings, if you do replace them, take the axels out and bring them and the bearings to any machine shop to have them done. I us...

I will send you my addy, just let me know what it costs and I will be happy to send you a payment ASAP. I was sucessful in pulling the tranny, driveshaft, and a bunch of interior stuff ...

4wd shifter linkage

Alright. I am in the process of removing a manual tranny and all associated parts from a car at the junk yard. Since the yard is forbidden from selling used cats, they had cut it off. For some reason, they cut the linkage from the 2/4wd shifter to the tranny. Anyone have a spare they would be willin...

Yeah Chris, you are right about wear occuring during startup (also letting an engine idle for extended periods is a bad wear thing as well), but I figure that if I was driving it, I would be starting it a heck of a lot more. Plus, running it for a bit each week (not just starting it and letting it i...

Good luck finding a Corolla GTS rear end. If you find one, I will give you the rear from my (or any of the others around here) Tercel and cash. I have looked everywhere, I am at wits end....

I just park mine for the seasons (spring, summer and fall) when it is time for a oil change. I do start it at least weekly as it sits anyway. Then when it is required to be put back into service, I pour a bit of fresh oil in (just about 1/4-1/2 quart), disable the ignition system (if it has been awh...

I don't know if I buy the spacer effect of this gasket. It is literally about the thickness of a sheet of notebook paper. I am sure any amount of gasket sealer would be able to provide the same miniscule amount of space as the gasket would. I used a Mopar diff and tranny sealer (got it free from wor...

If you want an easy way to do this, all you need to do is find a buzzer (or light), wire the pos to any light that is on when the lights are on (ashtray, stereo, etc,), then wire the ground end into the door pin-switch (either from the switch itself or the lead going to the domelight), and VIOLA! If...

You might be able to replace the rear diff with one from a RWD Corolla Sr5. I've heard they are the same. But it might be easier to find another tercel....I still haven't found a rear for my 87 GTS....Sommabeech....

I managed to fix the tranny, and kill it for good within 3 days. I think it died due to the initial problem. I noticed it making some noises on the day I put it on the rack. Drained the fluid (after using a BG flush in it for 2 days), took the old filter off (no real dirtiness), and then noticed the...

Golden 85 Terc in Yard....

Hey guys, I found a 'i-don't-know-why-they-junked-it' 85 SR5 in a yard here in St Louis. They won't sell me the entire car (those bastards), but I guess I am going to go and pull the tranny and all manual tranny related goodies out of it, the speedo cluster, and odds and ends. Does anyone need anyth...

I don't know. I think she is ready to go. Either that, or the filter is a POS and had failed. I had completely drained all the fluids before I put the 4A in, then drained them all out again and replaced the filter about 30,000mi ago (when I replaced the radiator). So it shouldn't be dirty or anythin...

Tranny Issues and Injector search....

Hey all, Having some serious tranny issues. Drove like always last eve, then today it just wasn't right. Yes, it is the crappy 3sp Auto, but it is my main transportation until the 89 Corolla's 4age is finished being rebuilt. It is shifting from 1-2 at about 10mph, then from 2-3 at about 30, and they...

I just use the filter for a 4a corolla, it is probably 2x as big as the recommended and it seems fine. How big are you going for? I wonder if the flow capabilities of the stock oil pump would even be able to take advantage of that large of a filter. Being that it is mounted almost completely sideway...

I had a similar problem with crossmember bolts in my old Camry, I did exactly as Takza said, cut a access hole, just big enough to fit a wrench into, then just threw some new bolts in, held them with the wrench, and tightened 'em down. They are held by a little boxed in bit of metal, and it tends to...
