Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
One of the benefits of a body lift is to maintain axle angles. A body lift would be easier on the C/Vs than a suspension lift but is a whole lot more work on Tercels. Indeed a stock Tercel C/V axles can not handle much angle deflection.

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
The engine mounts on the T4WD bolt to the engine crossmember (transmission has a crossmember too, IIRC). If you add lift blocks to the mounting points of those crossmembers you are not lifting the engine or drivetrain, they remain in the same place, in relation to the wheels/brakes/CVs/etc. Basical...

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
NWMO Great to hear from another local. I would love to meet other members. Let me know if you're going to be in Springfield area and want to meet sometime. I agree that a body lift is not out of the question. The biggest issue I see is that after I did a lift and installed 205/70/15 tires, there is ...

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
no reason quality parts can not come from china, as long as the seller maintains quality control authority. I agree. Not everything from China is junk, most but not all. It is very unfortunate that so many quality parts are no longer being made in the US. I am however grateful that some parts are s...

Indeed, they are manufactured by Ningbo Wonh Industries Co., Ltd., A Chinese company. We'll see how they do.

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
I had purchased them from a local Bumper to Bumper and installed them some time back. I didn't look closely at the packaging but after doing some research, it does appear they are made overseas, likely China. They are however much better in quality than any rebuilt I have come across and are very sm...

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
where are those trakmotive axles made? do you know? sounds like a deal. Factory new cv axles last 100k miles or more. some of the aftermarket ones do not even make it half that far, and many of the remanufauctured ones are junk right out of the box. As far as I understand, they are made next to me ...

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't you still have to do a suspension lift if you did a body lift? These cars have no upper ball joint if I recall and the upper part of the knuckle bolts directly to the strut/shock which rotates in the shock tower.

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
As Petros said, a suspension lift can cause C/V issues if much more than an inch. Mine is lifted about 1.5inches in the front with some simple fabricated strut hat spacers. I recommend lifting the back with some taller springs and longer shocks instead of air shocks as it will preserve your ride com...

Re: '84 WAGON REBUILD
Just as a small note to this. I had an issue with the factory C/V axles rubbing after a 1.5" lift. I used some after market axles made by TrakMotive which had a much smaller diameter joint and allowed for much greater clearance. Do you have a link to those aftermarket axles? Yes. This is their...

Re: 1985 4WD Deluxe
Wow. That is very interesting. I also live in Carter County on a farm in the Mark Twain National Forest. I had no idea these cars existed. This car is not one of those as I know the history quite well as I am friends with the original owner. That post is from quite some time ago but I would be very ...

Re: 1985 4WD Deluxe
Yes indeed. Those are tie downs. Although I need to powder coat them as they are starting to rust. I don't expect to tow much but rather use it to mount a motorcycle carrier to carry dirt bikes to the campgrounds or what have you. This car has barely enough power to pull itself uphill haha. P'ups we...

Re: 1985 4WD Deluxe
Thanks everyone. Sorry about the pictures. Apparently Dropbox's permanent shareable link isn't permanent after all. Splatterdog I'm sure that LUV was a lot stronger than it used to be, they aren't know for being structurally strong haha. Mine looks rough from the outside but is actually in very good...

1985 4WD Deluxe
Hi everyone. Just thought I'd post my car for anyone interested in that sort of thing. It is a 1985 Tercel Deluxe with the unfortunate automatic (although it works great). It is lifted about an inch and a half with custom made spacer on top of the strut in the front and taller springs in the rear. I...
