Re: Timing pulley guide pin???
That pin is built into the oil pump, so there are a few ways to get one. If you have the front apart anyway an oil pump isn't too expensive or difficult. You could also pull a pump from an engine in the yard and collect the pin, any A series engine should have the correct pin in the pump. There are ...

Re: Complete and running custom 7age swap
You recall correctly, 20v engines all flow to the back of the head, 16v all flow to the front. Luckily because the blocks are the same you can switch head gaskets for whatever your application is and get the correct coolant flow path

Re: Just spitballing ideas.
That guy's 3SGE RWD conversion definitely gives me inspiration, I've been working on my own plan for a similar RWD build when i finally get around to exploding my transaxle... For the rear end there are plenty of options if you're ok with a little fab. The 2wd Toyota trucks from the 80s and early 90...

Re: 4AGE Rally Tercel
The problem with wrap on mild steel headers is that they hold the heat in the pipes instead of releasing it to the engine bay. While this is good for the engine bay, the corrosion rate of steel increases sharply with temperature, and the wrap let's in oxygen to allow that to happen. Stainless will d...

Re: How to install pathfinder springs?
I find the handling to be much more neutral with the pathfinder springs, no more understeer. You'll need to reaim your headlights as they are now pointed at the ground, I had to go to the max range on the adjuster to get mine happy. Otherwise I carry a lot more weight without bottoming compared to s...

Re: Halogen Headlight Upgrade
Hey Peter, What will your workaround be for ice build up? Keegan shared that even here in MO, a snowy/icy day and w/o the heat from a candescent bulb, the LED headlights he tried covered with ice. Chris JW Speaker makes a drop in 6054 style LED housing with integrated heaters to prevent icing. They...

Re: Halogen Headlight Upgrade
GE Megalight +130 is what I'm running now. The + number doesn't add any wattage, they wind the filaments tighter to get better light focus into the reflector. Any of the GE, Philips, Osram, or Sylvania bulbs that don't have a blue tint are going to be good. Get the highest + number you can (I think ...

Re: Halogen Headlight Upgrade
The AutoPals are OK, I have a set on my MR2. They have a beam similar to hit Hella e-code but the housing design isn't as nice. They also have the same annoying problem as the Hellas on high beam, the beam is too far up so you either light up the trees on high beam or sacrifice low beam distance. Ci...

Re: Halogen Headlight Upgrade
Topic 1: The only way to upgrade to LED headlights is with a housing that is designed for LEDs. The light profile from an LED chip is vastly different from a halogen light. Drop in H4 style LED bulbs are *horrible* at getting light on the road from a housing designed for a halogen H4. Just don't do ...

Re: Complete and running custom 7age swap
I doubt the MR2 manifold would work, it wraps down to point under the oil pan, which would point it straight into the crossmember in a Tercel. It took some careful routing, but I was able to build up a shorty 4-1 header on my 4AFE while retaining the AC compressor, something similar could be done on...

Re: Car runs, dies, runs
Does it die suddenly or slowly get worse and then is unable to run? Does it start immediately once it has sat for awhile? Is it able to go for the same period of time before it dies again? Does the fuel level in the tank matter? Are you able to see the float bowl window to verify that the carb has f...

Re: Car runs, dies, runs
Could be the igniter getting old and getting hot, the Celica guys have been having that issue pop up for awhile.
Easiest thing to do is swap in the distributor from a good running car and see if the problem goes away.

Interesting, I imagine it's a 2WD vs. 4WD as toyodiy lists the same PN for manual or power racks...
In any case, if I were in your shoes I would buy the longer ones and cut them down if they need to be shorter, it's only an inch difference.
