Re: Passed CA smog check once again!

To be fair, I have replaced the cat several times, but not since replacing the AAP valve. Before replacing the AAP in 2011, I would have a smog check... fail the test... go to a muffler shop... get a new cat... go directly back to the smog check... pass by a SLIM margin. Within 2 to 4 years I would ...

Re: Passed CA smog check once again!

Thanks Chris! I forgot to say that when I took my car to the smog shop that I have used since 2013, they were afraid of my brakes and would not put it on the dyno. My brakes are excellent, however I did disconnect the booster some 15 years ago because of an internal vacuum leak. So the brakes are ma...

Passed CA smog check once again!

[img][img] 001---Copy.gif Hello! Had not posted in awhile. Happy to say that I did indeed pass California's strict smog test once again! Will try to attach an image of the report. Anyway, I was way under the max limits. Had to fix an exhaust leak in the bend of the head pipe. Other than that i fixed...

Re: "Winter" arrived in Fresno also!

Hello Jarf,
Exactly the response I was hoping for! I actually did see a mosquitoe yesterday and will be mowing the lawn in a day or two. Although I have been in California for 50 years, I was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan. That almost makes me an honorary Canadian! john :D

Re: "Winter" arrived in Fresno also!

Did a lot of skiing on Shasta in the 1960's and 70's. The chairlift was over 1 and 1/2 miles long and all above tree line. Open bowl skiing... just tuck and go. I can remember a snowpack at the lodge of close to 30ft one year. Then in '76 or '77 there was so little snow the lifts were closed, so we ...

"Winter" arrived in Fresno also!

For all my Tercel Brothers in the Great Frozen North; here are a couple photos of our California winter. Took these this morning. Our tortoise even woke up and crawled out of her burrow. We could sure use some snow in the Sierras. Another dry winter. john

Re: what/where to check out in montana/idaho?

I remember being impressed with the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman Montana. It was 15 years ago, but I also remember some of the best pizza I ever had at a place in Bozeman; don't remember the name.

Re: What could happen with a removed power steering pump?

Hi Shambug, My '85 developed a serious steering rack leak 10 or 12 years ago. I removed the power steering pump and hoses. Steering still handles fine, no problems. These cars are really light weight and easy to maneuver. I figure that some day I might remove the rack and install a manual rack; I ne...

Re: My Tercel Stolen

Hi Everybody, It really is good to have my Tercel back home. People told me I would get it back, but as Social mentioned, they burn cars around here also. I did put a kill switch in mine when I got it back. I tapped into the starter solenoid wire and installed a toggle switch. It was quick and easy ...

Re: Re-name Me

Her shell has really nice markings and color; nice photo. Perhaps our Turt needs a coat of turtle wax... I'm joking. My car is definitely due for some polishing.

Re: Re-name Me

Great story Marlinh! Let's keep the goof-up stories going. I could fill a book, most of us probably could. Dlb - Turt has a corner of the yard she chose for her burrow. I made a small wooden house over it to keep her dry and to remind myself not to step on her. It is right in front of a gate. The bu...

Re: Re-name Me

I love the stories! I was hoping to hear some good ones from you guys. It's true, the more you do the more chances to goof-up. Learned a long time ago to try and laugh stuff off. I changed the oil on my Spit 35 years ago. Carefully refilled the engine. Noticed a big puddle under the car. Forgot to p...
