Re: O2 sensor voltage at idle? 3ac tuned for smog check

your the one who turned it into a pissing match.

my girlfriends escort was showing 1.1 volts before i had to ajust the air flow meter to compensate for a weak spring inside.

made my own high performance plug wires.

I got an idea at work today while looking through the Napa Wire Automotive catalog also known as N.W.A. (lol, what were they thinking?). they have a listing for 8mm racing-only metal core spark plug wire in bulk. I remembered that i had a set of old plug wires i wasn't using any more because there w...

Re: O2 sensor voltage at idle? 3ac tuned for smog check

i know exactly what is going on, I'm no stranger to OBDII scanners, O2 scanners and lean/rich running conditions. Just because my DD is from 1983, doesn't mean I've never touched or worked on anything newer than 1996. Its also preposterous to say a O2 sensor is incapable of creating 1 volt unless it...

Re: madening rough idle

so i poked at the car for awhile tonight, didn't really accomplish much, but i came up with a couple ideas. after i return the distributor to work i'm going to install a ford solid state 4 cyliner ignition coil module (for $15 why not) try removing the idle cut solenoid and put a bolt in there in it...

Re: Starter -- Click, no crank. Diganosis?

new starter?

the first thing that comes to mind is the little wire going to the starter on the bottom, i forgot to connect it last time i installed the engine and it did the exact same thing.

Re: madening rough idle

i looked up those solenoids at work.

one is called a fuel cut solenoid, the other is a "idle cut solenoid" I'm guessing it cuts fuel to the secondary at idle or something (and making my car idle like crap right now)

my cost was well over $100 for either :x

Re: O2 sensor voltage at idle? 3ac tuned for smog check

i never said the O2 sensor was not suppose to switch, i have no idea where that came from. the only reason i can see for a .45V reading is California cars are set up differently because every time I plug in the OBD scanner and view the O2 sensor data, or a multimeter to the O2 sensor, it was or at l...

Re: madening rough idle

the solenoids themselves work, I tested them when i rebuilt the carb, as far as working properly (getting power at the right time) i'm not sure. should i just be listening for a simple click? or something more? I'll look into the EGR modulator, but I haven't suspected it because unplugging the vacuu...

Re: O2 sensor voltage at idle? 3ac tuned for smog check

.9V is the diatonic ratio, 14.5:1 air:fuel mixture.

lower voltage means lean, higher voltage means rich.

Re: madening rough idle

so the new distributor did SFA for the idle, and the threads for the cap were pre-stripped so i had to jury-rig it on. awesome. not to mention the advance/retard diaphragm things were pointing the wrong direction. needless to say i'm going to return the distributor to work as defective and put the o...

Re: Front Differential

if you can make it RWD go for it, in my situation it wasn't possible, theres no reason it will cause excessive strain on anything, your just moving the power from the front wheels to the rear, its a binding 4wd system on pavement that strains the car.

Re: madening rough idle

well, i checked that all out, re-routed some vacuum lines and it still idles terrible.

I ordered a new distributor from work today, hopefully that will fix things. after that the only money im spending on this engine will be filters, oil and plugs.

Re: Tires that can fit on the stock rims.

i remember seeing those kumho 175 70 R13 offroad tires on tiretrends.com about 5 years ago, they were $138 a pirce i think, but they would have ben some pretty cool tires for the turtle.
