Re: Not sure what I miss more....
not that i think tercels are the lap o luxury, but i'd rather drive a tercel than a jeep. buddy used to have a 2000 Laredo, he liked the thing at first i think for the novelty. I didn't like its tub o water suspension and horrid handling and its unstable feeling at anything over 90km/h. Engine kinda...

Re: Another head gasket replacement...
I know when lotus made the engine for a corvette (a very limited production run, engine has DOHC, etc) they reverse flowed the cooling system to meet emissions. just thought it would be a fun fact to add in. if your really concerned about cylinder head temps, mabey getting the combustion chamber coa...

Re: Another head gasket replacement...
if your going to make more power out of the engine, you can't expect it to last as long.
If there is a detonation issue, look into retarding the ignition timing a bit, and possibly upgrading the cooling system.

Re: yaris motor swap
thats what i was thinking when i picked up an echo engine (same thing, 1nzfe) but after close inspection, it quickly became apparent that it would be no easy task, bolting it to the transmission is going to be your first hurdle, then the starter, engine mounts, etc. the wiring will be the easiest, i...

Re: fixed my cars idle...
you bet it has powa steering, but its pretty heavy for a car with P/S, but thats part of the German heavy feel. as far as status, i think some people at work are jelous, they just seem a little more bitchy towards me. No need to worry about first dates, although my girlfriend really likes it for its...

when i was 18 someone called it a volvo, to which i replied
"this isn't a Volvo, its a 4wd Toyota tercel!" like it was a long lost Porsche or something.

Re: Electric fuel pump
i think a regulator and metal block off plate will work best, the type of plastic used in a Tupperware or margarine container will melt on the engine. a tee off the fuel supply line into the return line might work, but your also taking the chance that all the fuel will bypass going into the carb and...

Re: madening rough idle
i asked a guy who comes into work and is a retired toyota mechanic, not that i think working at toyota makes you an expert, some people have that spark, and hes one of them. anyways, i asked him about my craptacular idle and he said its caused by crud build-up around the vacuum orifice right below t...

Re: made my own high performance plug wires.
i put in the G-powers, the lag is still there but not to the same extent, acceleration and idle is alot smoother. I got about 500KM to my last tank (quite and improvement to the sub 400km/tank before I re-sealed the engine) , and this tank looks like its going about the same way, hopefully i'll be w...
