Re: No excess of T4wds
Must be a 'if you build it they will come' kind of thing. Maybe I will see more of them when I am driving my own. It really makes me feel good about getting one if they have such a loyal following. I hope I can look forward to many happy miles with Bluebelle.

Re: No excess of T4wds
That makes sense. I guess he was referrring more to the larger Detroit iron. I am wondering what if any good that program did for those who are forced to drive older cars due to economic issues. Then again it wasn't touted as a aid to the poor so much as a way to ditch some gas guzzlers.

Re: No excess of T4wds
I have heard that the 'Cash For Clunkers' deal really thinned out the herd of older cars nation wide. Was told by a guy I know that it has driven the price up on the remaining older cars. While still in the 'cheap' bracket, I am certainly paying more then $200 for mine.

Re: Soon to be new owner of a 85 T4wd SR5
My first MGA was actually a hardtop. I loved that car. I spent hours going over every inch of it with rubbing compound and then applying multiple coats of wax. It still had the crank to start it if the batteries, (2 6 volts under the floor/deck behind the seats) died. I was never brave enough to try...

Re: And another roadkill score...
Oh my god, I thought I was going to see a disabled car being rescued. Note to self...do NOT click on roadkill posts.

Re: Soon to be new owner of a 85 T4wd SR5
Oh...and the terc. Well, I have recently retired and moved into my motorhome. As I have a tow dolly, I was looking for a FWD vehicle to tow. I got to thinking that a 4wd would be ideal after I recalled that my first subaru was FWD with selectable 4wd. I did not want to spend a lot of money as it was...

Re: Soon to be new owner of a 85 T4wd SR5
It was actually the Lotus that was the last straw. Beautiful car and so much fun to drive....when it ran. I hear so much talk about the Lucas electrical stuff, oddly I never had a electrical problem in any of my Brit cars. It was always either cooling or engine stuff. The only time my TR7 broke on m...

No excess of T4wds
Had a hard time getting to sleep last night so I decided to 'count sheep'. I went on Yahoos auto finder site...no T4wds for sale anywhere within 300 miles (the largest search it allows). Then I went to www.cars.com, same result for the whole US. I got sleepy and crashed before checking Autotrader bu...

Re: Soon to be new owner of a 85 T4wd SR5
:? I haven't seen the tires on mine yet. I have looked at Tire Rack for some ideas just in case. I am currently wavering between the Conti Winter tires going on winter predictions for our area, or one of the higher rated wet/snow all seasons. Won't know how capable she is for snow outings until I ca...

Re: Soon to be new owner of a 85 T4wd SR5
I actually posted in the 'Meeting' section on that very subject. I would love to get together with more experienced owners...fun and informative. Anytime is good for me after the 1st of the year.

Any meets being discussed for the new year?
I notice quite a few people living in the NW and see most of the prior get togethers were in my area...I live in Lakewood. Since I am picking up my new ride at the end of Dec. it would be fun and probably uber instructional to meet up with some of you long time owners. I really like and am greatful ...

Re: Member Profiles
I am located at McChord AFB near Tacoma WA. The last time I used a hobby shop was in the 80s. A couple of guys I worked with offered to help me rebuild the engine in my MG Midget when it gave up the ghost and I couldn't afford a new car. They helped with the heavy work and let me do most of the rest...

Re: Member Profiles
Thanks, I just don't want to buy a receptical for the oil. I think doing the job at the hobby shop will take care of that issue.
How hard are the belts to change? Something I have never done.

Re: Member Profiles
:D Thankyou for the welcome. I agree, the commissaries are a plus as well as being able to use the BX. I am currently living on base in the RV park. I can even go to the mess hall for a meal when I don't feel like cooking. I will look into the base auto hobby shop to see if I can do the work there. ...

Soon to be new owner of a 85 T4wd SR5
Hi all, New to Toyotas, so be gentle. I just retired and moved into my motorhome. Wanted a front wheel drive vehicle to put on my tow dolly and ideally a front wheel drive with 4wd capability. Had to be either a Tercel or a Subaru from roughly the same period. Fate chose a Tercel and I pick i...
