Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
Sounds good. Is there a particular brand and weight of conventional gear lube that you could recommend?

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
So I have bought the Redline oil for this trans. I don’t know what else to do since they are so many conflicting opinions about hypoid gears and brass synchros being lubricated by the same oil in our transmissions.

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
Transmission is back together and will be going in soon.
I spent the weekend swapping out the flasher relay to a load independent version from superbrightleds.com. I also tore the dash apart and replaced the heater core and installed the under dash A/C components. What a job that was.

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
I can see how you would get the impression that the younger generation doesn’t appreciate older cars or fixing and maintaining a car. However every week my students mention to me how cool they think my car is and offer to buy it from me. It typically will spark a conversation about what car they are...

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
Yesterday I took the Tercel in to the local locksmith shop which is owned by a previous helicopter instructor of mine. We re-keyed all the locks to the code found on the passenger side lock, so that everything operates with one key now. Today my friend and I headed over to Xirdneh’s place and picked...

I am so glad that you have such an appreciation for these 80’s Toyota’s. If I had my way I would probably have a garage full of old Toyota’s too. My wife makes sure that doesn’t happen though.

I ordered this super cool JDM key. I’m gonna be handing this car over to my 17 year old nephew soon so I hope he appreciates it.

Paintless dent repair guys have really perfected a lot of techniques to remove small dents and dings using plastic tools to massage the dent out from the back of the panel
A lot of dealerships use them to fix small dents.

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
Thanks Petros. It appears that Toyota no longer has them available so I’ll get ahold of Xirdneh.

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
Time for a transmission rebuild.
Got the cases cleaned up in the parts washer.
Fifth gear has a couple little chips in it so for $45 I’m gonna see if Toyota has one still available. If not it will probably be fine.
