Re: Lower engine brace
Good news/bad news. I did remove the nuts holding the stabilizer and discovered the brackets to the tie rods. I have gotten the bolts out of the passenger side and the front bolt on the drivers side already. The rear one is difficult to get to and I am taking a break before I take a hammer to the ca...

Lower engine brace
OK guys, I got the 4 nuts off without any damage to anything. The brace moves a little but seems to be held up by some sort of suspension/steering bar that is sort of bow shaped and attached to the lower portion of the wheel assembly. Does that bar need to be removed and are there any tips or tricks...

Re: It's my birthday!!!
Happy birthday to you. Try and get the penetrating oil inside the frame to lube the other end of the bolt. If these get rusted real good you can break loose the nut welded on to the inside of the frame, making getting that cross member of a major operation, since the bolt and nut will just spin wit...

Re: It's my birthday!!!
Thanks guys. I did actually get one nut loose of the 4 today. I don't think they have been touched in 26 years. It took a torch and all the strength I have with a cheater to break the first one loose. The second one wouldn't budge so I sprayed more penetrating oil on it and since it was starting to ...

It's my birthday!!!
I actually celebrated yesterday in the really nice weather with 9 holes of golf. Was planning on trying to break loose the nuts on the engine bracket. I doused them with penitrating oil after fighting with them for awhile. If the oil doesn't work I do have the propane torch to heat them up now. Enjo...

Re: Belt help?
Yeah the kid behind the counter asked me if it had AC and I told him it had been taken out. I guess he assumed the alternator mount had been swapped or something. Next time I am just saying is has AC so there will be no confusion.

Re: A word to the wise......
What really sucks is I still can't drive the car. So it is going to sit for the remainder of the month until I can afford to get it into the shop to do the rest of the work it needs. Between extra parts, tools and putting a small fortune into the RVs gas tank to retrieve the car when it broke down I...

When ever working on anything to do with your timing belt. ALWAYS remember to re-install the timing belt covers BEFORE putting on all the belts and pulleys. IF you are as dumb as a plank (like me) and DO forget to put them back on first, TRY to not drop one of the water pump pully bolts down between...
