Re: Parts needed - TVSV, taillight, window trim

Petros: the symptoms are that the hatch will (usually) only open with the key, if it is not also locked with the key it will not completely close. I tried to fix it but broke a small tab off the cylinder. Does that help?

Parts needed - TVSV, taillight, window trim

Needed for my '84 T4wd: TVSV- I tried to fix the broken off plastic top, but every time I repair it breaks off again. I've read the threads about TVSVs and want to see if someone has one available that might work before exploring other options, like a weber. Other parts needs: Rear taillight housing...

Re: WTB White Wagon 4wd Manual

"Is it your car?"

LOL, no, just my opinion. I've already got one so I don't need another. But since I've been busy doing much of the same work to resurrect mine, I thought I'd chime in.

Re: WTB White Wagon 4wd Manual

Actually with the work done, spare wheels, LED headlights, I think it's a good deal. Replacement windshields still exist, and it's got the best spec (IMO) - plaid seats and inclinometer!

Re: New clutch - pull engine or transmission?

@marlinh - sorry for the late reply, but I've been working on my other rides. I didn't get the flywheel machined, it didn't look fried/warped/beat up. Scrubbed it with a scrubber pad, cleaned it with brake clean then acetone, and it looked fine.

Re: New clutch - pull engine or transmission?

New clutch remains grabby, I mean it jolts a bit when I lift off the pedal, not very smooth. Checked the tranny oil and it was overflowing when I opened the fill plug on the driver's side, since it's fresh I suppose I'm good. I'm working on getting the timing down right, just set it all the way one ...

Re: Glastonbury CT 50k miles $2600

Might be the same car, being flipped after servicing? Or is this the ex-Petros car?

Re: New clutch - pull engine or transmission?

Good point, I'll check the gear lube this weekend. There is a bit of a whine from the input shaft I guess in gear as well.

Clutch grabs/shudders a bit with each gear change, a bit like some driveline slop. I'll check the adjuster and see if that resolves with more gear oil.

Re: New clutch - pull engine or transmission?

Got the engine back in and hooked up in time to enjoy a messy snowfall here in the northeast. Old clutch and pressure plate were toast. New axle makes the T4wd ride like a new car. The car is a bit harder to get into reverse, but I will see how it works out after a few hundred miles. Other gears shi...

Re: New clutch - pull engine or transmission?

:) Got the axle in without issue, thanks to the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKOWhAKf2Qs Just had to grease the spline end a bit to get it to slide into the tranny.

I have a bruteforce clutch kit I got from Rockauto, with a clutch disk that measures .347". Should I be worried?

Re: New clutch - pull engine or transmission?

Petros, splatterdog, marlinh, Xirdneh - thanks for the tips. Getting the engine ready to pull, I will see how I do without removing the input shaft. The right side grinding is really more of a metal crunching, quite pronounced. Wheel bearings check out without much play side-to-side on the lifted wh...
