Re: Zach's 1985 Toyota Tercel DLX Hatchback
Thanks. Petros, I am so far into medication withdrawal that I can't even fathom your drawing. I will look at it again later when my brain doesn't "itch." I'm probably going to go drop the head on now. I still haven't decided on what to do about the cover and I can just barely think at all ...

Re: Zach's 1985 Toyota Tercel DLX Hatchback
I have seen that before, I think it happens when it gets assembled with the slinger or a washer missing or something. The stack up should be tall enough so the pulley does not touch the front cover. Another possibility is if they did not put all the bolts holding the cover on into it and it allowed...

Re: Zach's 1985 Toyota Tercel DLX Hatchback
How should the cover look where mine is all torn up? I need to see if mine has been warped or anything beyond just cuddling up to the pulley and getting its face mauled.

Re: Bulk Purchase of Vacuum line
I used whatever amount comes in the Prestone packages. The small ones that aren't behind the counter. I still need to do more fuel hoses and I think the PCV hose, plus a slew of o-rings.

Re: Zach's 1985 Toyota Tercel DLX Hatchback
I pulled the crank pulley. Looks like the person who messed with it last didn't know the crank pulley shouldn't be making out with the timing cover. So the lower timing cover has been "modified" by the pulley.

Re: CATALYTIC CONVERTOR NEEDED
that steel tube terminates near the starter i believe it just takes in a bit of air for the cat so if you remove the cat remove the tube too It's air injection that uses ram-air instead of a pump. All it does is add weight ;) Its function was to inject air into the cat for more complete burning of ...

Re: Zach's 1985 Toyota Tercel DLX Hatchback
Well, I got the tie rods out using a pulley-puller from Harbor Freight. Is the steering rack supposed to have rotational play? Holding on to the stationary portion of the inner tie rod, I can rotate the rack (inside of the total housing, I am referring to the toothed portion of the rack) about 25 de...

Re: intermittent clogged toilet
We have a new toilet from like Jacuzzi brand or something. Flushes really well and refills in seconds. Best. Toilet. EVER. So you can get a good toilet with the lower water usage, you just have to be picky. I think if we get a house I will want another one, because in my childhood the toilets took o...

I pulled it out to go find a T for it and now it makes a lot more sense, although I still think the amount of vacuum lines on this thing is absurd.

Re: Inner / Outer tie rod removal
Looks like the cheap Taiwan-made puller wasn't up to it. The pushing stud in the puller got bent diagonally so I need to go buy a real puller and throw the old one in scrap.
