Mines always been like that also, I suspect its just the throttle shaft getting worn and I don't think theres much you can do for it other than replace it. I always just run my standard 5/8 heater hose a little longer to make the curve not as tight so that it doesn't kink. Isn't as pretty, but it works good, and 5/8 hose is usually ready available and cheap. I actually look into the gates hose if mine becomes a problem though.

I would probably lean more towards the burned out charging bulb, just because you said that it doesn't come on anymore. If that light gets blown, then your alternator doesn't get "excited" and that means your alternator won't charge the battery at all. Next chance you get, check your batte...
