Re: F$%king printer...
Maybe the driver was stuck printing in "draft" quality (to save on toner)?

Re: Need a Tercel 4wd Transmission standard, BC, Canada
For the record, I talked to Chris on the phone and at this point, he is going to remove the trans and inspect it before going further.

Re: some adgice for an amature. catalytic convertee.
My catalytic converter is bolted on with 12MM bolts (17MM head). Nuts on the back, so neither of the flanges are threaded. Someone else might be able to say if that is how they all are, or if some have threaded flanges. You can see a new catalytic converter bolted on here: https://tercel4wd.com/foru...

Re: Need a Tercel 4wd Transmission standard, BC, Canada
Yes, I have a trans that I pulled last year from an '86. From what I remember it was a little grindy going into 3rd gear (a worn synchro, I guess), and other than that I think it was good. Greyhound shipping is not convenient for me, but I could drain it and package it for you and drive it to the Gr...

Re: rod and main bearings: do these look OK?
@xirdneh: Magnifying glass, eh? Sounds like CSI forensics for matching bullet to barrel. @keith: Thanks for the second opinion. The block was already on the engine stand, and like I said, I have no history on the motor, so before I go to the work of swapping all the parts over and installing, I figu...

Re: rod and main bearings: do these look OK?
The head is still on, so I will leave it on, check the top half of those rod bearings, and if all is good, reassemble and give it a try. I don't think we have any plasti-gauge handy, but I will check. I took a before photo showing the orientation of the markings on the main bearing caps and also the...

Chris, I have a trans on Vancouver Island if you haven't already found one for your T4.
Or this guy seems to have one in Vancouver:

rod and main bearings: do these look OK?
I need to repower my T4 and I had this mystery 3A in the garage that was already bolted to a engine stand, so I drained the oil and pulled the oil pan. Can someone tell me what they think about the condition of these bearings? at top: from left to right: Main bearing# 1,2,3,4,5, then rod bearing 1,2...

it's a good thing it is a labour of love, because you're not paying yourself at that price.

Re: unhappy with 80w-90 gear oil
Yes I am running 80/W90. On cold days, sometimes it is also hard to shift into second. So I do a 1st to 3rd shift, and after a short bit of driving it shifts fine. I have read most of the posts on the different oils people use but am not sure which option is best. That stuff isn't cheap, so experim...

Re: Help-need 5spd output shaft bearing #9036325015 -
Neither part# B25-145 or part# 9036325015 is listed in the SKF or BCA (Bower) bearing cross references. your 2.578" = approx 65.5mm, however 2.559" = 65mm, and 0.982" = 25mm, and 0.790" = 20mm. So, if we assume the O.D. is 65mm, then the bearing size is 65mm O.D. x 25mm x 20mm Un...

Re: unhappy with 80w-90 gear oil
that's really interesting, colin. your current terc shifted fine when cold with synthetic, and shifts lousy when cold with traditional? if it is that black and white for you, i may give synthetic a shot. Not quite. I have not had the synthetic in the cold temps (with this trans). I should have made...
