Re: Highest RPM achieved?

Bailey, I also typically shift at 4K, though it's not uncommon to run it to 4.5k in 1st and 2nd. I would guess I've put a few miles on running 70-80 mph on the Interstate, turning 3.6k-3.8k. Maybe there is enough road noise I can't hear well, but the engine seems pretty happy/smooth to me, even at 4...

Re: First issue

Hey Tom, In the past I have used a small drill bit and wood screws to grab the seals, how do you go about it. I will try Advanced Auto to see if the have that tool for rent, worth a shot. I will probably try to clean things up and put some heat on it. Unfortunately, the best I have here is some MAP ...

Re: First issue

Tom,

I got Gates hoses and the t/b kit. Ordered the thermo from the dealership. New water pump is AC Delco. I did get new cam and crank seals as well.

Re: First issue

Good evening, I got the last of my parts today and briefly started removals. Pulled radiator, water pump pulley and top half of cover. I cut the belt off of the PS pump. Bolts fighting me in three spots currently, starting to get dark, so I sprayed them down and came in. Bottom (pivot) bolt for PS p...

Re: First issue

Peter,

Will do, actually looking forward to turning a wrench on her. Having my '95 Prizm as back up is nice as I don't have to feel too rushed.

Re: First issue

Alrighty, Used a timing light to confirm no spark. Pulled the t/b cover back some to see the t/b in place. Had a buddy crank while I watched, no movement on t/b. Looked a little deeper and see the crank spinning right along, checked the timing belt and find no "teeth". So, time to renew se...

First issue

Hey all,

Cruisin' down the highway and she laid down on me. Doesn't seem like anything major, will start by trying to confirm fuel and spark. Just pumping while trying to start, I'm not seeing the typical "squirt" in the carb. Will start there first.

Re: WTB stock roof rack

I have a factory sunroof in my 84 Terc 4WD with the lond factory roof rack, no interference what so ever, so you won't have any problem installing it. Good luck, they sure come on handy, i've had some wicked loads on my, they are strong. Thanks for the input. I'm sure I'll find a use for it if I ge...

Re: WTB stock roof rack

I've owned multiple Tercel wagons with either style racks. Not sure they were "factory" or dealer installed. Currently have a long style rack on my wrecked '88 sr5 that i'd sell for $25 plus the ride. Shipping could get pretty expensive- I'm in Baltimore, MD. I could probably take it apar...

WTB stock roof rack

Hey all, I am in search of a stock roof rack for my Tercel wagon. I believe I see two stock versions, a longer one that runs from the rear of the roof to the B-Pillar and a shorter one that runs from the rear of the roof to a spot in the middle of the rear door. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o3...

Re: Need 83 Trans!

Thanks fellas,

I got it topped off this evening, it did take another 1/4 to 1/3 quart I believe. I may have to invest in a gear oil pump, would sure make things easier. I'm looking forward to driving to work tomorrow to see if it shifts any differently.

Re: Need 83 Trans!

Alrighty, Thanks for the pic Johnymoto, I have not exactly followed the FSM. I drained from the bottom two plugs, the rear plug is in the bottom of your pic. I filled from an upper plug on the drivers side of the tranny that is easier to get to and did not back out the "plug" as I needed. ...

should work for the Terc as well!

I'm sure this has been shared before, but found it worthwhile :)

I guess wheelbase may make this a little more challenging with the Terc, but surely doable with a longer "goose neck".

Re: Need 83 Trans!

I strongly agree with Petros. However, I would remove the link between the 4wd lever (gear stick) and the gearbox under the car until you are 100% sure that the front and rear diffs are the same ratio. That way you can't accidentally put it in 4wd when inside the car. Also, replace the output shaft...
