Re: my post-tercel vehicle adventures
wow rich, i didn't know the highlander came in a 4-cylinder. i looked it up now and it looks like it's a 2.4L. that's awesome, i bet it gets comparable fuel economy to the x-trail. sounds like you happened on a great deal. lowbuckcanuck, my x-trail was from pemberton. i knew it would have salt expo...

Re: WTB: 3a cylinder head
Sorry, never looked as I was there only for the fenders. I still have the block and head from my '86 parts car if you're ever in the Vancouver area and want to have it. Last time the parts car ran was about 12 years ago when I drove it home from Vancouver. The only engine problem I noticed at the t...

I don't suppose you recall how about many kilometres were on the car?

Re: my post-tercel vehicle adventures
Yes, Lenny's previous owner was Greg. I'm in Revelstoke through. The reason I asked where the x-trail was from is because salt is heavily used in the interior, which ruins so many nice cars around here.

Re: WTB: 3a cylinder head
Seriously though, does anyone have one or know of where I could get one? All the pick n pulls within a 200 mile radius are fresh out of 80's model tercels.

Re: my post-tercel vehicle adventures
this car came from an area of BC where they use lots of salt in the winter and despite all my experience of working on rusty old tercels (i have always prided myself on being really good at breaking tiny, rusted bolts free without shearing them), i learned that vehicles that have been exposed to to...

Other affectionate names include Cambodia Tire and Craptacular Tire.splatterdog wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2018 12:53 pm I was guessing that. Don't think I've ever heard any good things from Canadian techs either. Good deal on snows for being not quite end of season.

Re: WTB: Canadian model Sr5 instrumentation cluster
you can always convert in your head as you go. that is what I did when we spent 24 days in Greece driving a rental Golf. not hard just knowing that 60 mph is about 100 Kph, 30 mph is about 50 kph. those two speeds are the most common driving speeds for city and hwy, QED. Eventually I just got used ...

Re: WTB: Canadian model Sr5 instrumentation cluster
all of the speedos have both MPH and KPH, but your total miles/klms meter will read differently, you just have to know which you have. Yes, if the big side of the dial is in kph, the odometer will read in kph, correct? Almost all cars have mph and kph, but I really don't want to squint at the insid...

Lower kms the better. I'm in BC, would prefer to come and pick it up, I image shipping for such a part would be... costly.

Re: Sr5 cluster feasibility?
DLX to SR5 cluster swap is strictly plug 'n play- only mod is to move the speedo cable to the other side of the pedal ass'y. I've swapped odo drums between speedos- no real big deal. I'm not trying to be dense, but what do the tach and clock plug into? Is the speedo cable length the same between th...
