Hey, I was a lube tech for a while. I worked at Pennzoil 10 Minute Oil Change for a summer. My job was usually underneath the cars draining the oil and changing the filter, and checking transmission and differential levels. It was a ripoff place, always trying to sell the customers stuff they didn't...

Ontario is the biggest insurance screw in the world. I know someone who went from $200 a month to $40 by moving to Saskatchewan where they have government insurance. Here the government and the insurance industry collaborate to screw everyone. And everyone's overstressed workaholic lifestyle and exc...

Didn't your parents want you to take it to the dealer in the first place? If they really charged you more than they quoted, you can dispute it. You have to agree to a price unless you're going by time and materials in which case you know there's a risk involved. I'd suggest rebuilding it rather than...

It's US gallons. The muffler was replaced 3-4 years ago along with the entire exhaust with OEM parts, so I doubt it was clogged.

Now that my tranny is shot, I get 0 miles out of 0 gallons, and 0/0 is undefined. So technically it could be anything. It could be better or worse than yours.

My second one crapped out yesterday. Incedentally, gas went over $1/litre in southern Ontario and I paid $1.08 up north. Perhaps it's no coincidence? I won't even bother describing the way in which it broke - it would take too much time. Lots of grinding and it seems to have to do with the gear chan...

I drove on the beach once. It drove fine in 4WD. Best thing to do is to keep going, because it's harder to build up the speed. Cops don't like it though, as I found out.

I use a funnel and some PVC tubing and run it up underneath the hood. It takes a while, but there's usually something else that needs to be done while waiting for the oil to flow. I use 1/2" tubing, the biggest they sell at Canadian Tire, which is the perfect size to squeeze into my funnel with...

This appears to be the case: I was averaging 34mpg and since the muffler fell off, mileage went up to 36mpg for two tanks in a row. Same driving conditions in fact the last tank probably had it a little worse with more city traffic. I was going to try to weld it back on but with these figures I'm ha...
