Sorry, I don't want the car sitting around for another year while I procrastinate taking parts off. I need quick cash and I need to get rid of things.

The 3rd gear syncro is beyond bad, it's dust mixed in with the gear oil.

The 4A-F is going alot faster than it sounds like it is when you're used to a 3A-C, because of the 16 valves and being so much quieter overall. I really have to pay attention to the tach and shift sooner to try to get decent mileage.

I'll sell my mr2 rims for $100. Good shape with centre caps and lug nuts. I'm also in Canada so shipping won't be that bad

Get the struts from a front wheel drive Tercel, either the hatchback or the wagon. Those are an inch or two lower and they already fit.

The differential is the same but the ring and pinion gears are different in the 4WD. If it comes from an 85 or later 4WD then your gears will be lower. You may find the ring and pinion are still good and you can use them again. You can take a look at the diff by taking the front cover off to determi...

In Southern Ontario I saw alot of them when I was young and my parents car was an 85 Tercel 4 door hatchback. I noticed them because they said Tercel on them but were so much bigger and different. I see one about once every 2 months now, and there's about 3 I know of in my city, all of which have lo...

$1 a litre is good - if it means people for the most part can go on driving the same distances they always have. However this won't last for long. The world is running out of oil, and as it does so the prices will get high enough that our jobs won't pay for the gas it takes to drive to them. Too bad...

You can replace the front differential without removing the transmission, that is, if your ring and pinion are still good. I had a busted diff and found the side gears (the small ones) were stripped but the ring and pinion were fine.

I get (got) 34 mpg average split highway/city with traffic jams included. With a canoe and a full load it went down to 31.

It was good for a while then gradually it started screwing up even with the EGR disconnected. I don't think that's really the issue then. It's worse when cold. Sometimes when it's been running for a while it gets to the point when it runs normal. After cold startups it's always really bad. Some days...
