Re: Brand new transmission internals!?!
They dont have most parts that they claim they do. Amayama is a japanese parts exporter, and their supplier for toyota parts is toyota. If you want something strange, lets say a new leather sr5 shift knob (an option on the first gen tercels), and amayama says they have it, they more than likely dont...

For anyone posting on this thread, cars-guy rebuilt the wagon and more than likely isn't parting it out.

car-part.com has several listed, and a few in Washington and Oregon. Unfortunately with how the website works, I cannot give you a direct link to the results.

Re: Possible names for hopeful regional gatherings
Hey all, I am in my early 50s and not the most tech savvy, what website builders would you recommend for creating a basic informational website for the Tercel Midwest Meet & Greet? I assume FB has an option ($$?) as well. Wanting to build the site to post pics, share info and hopefully post con...

Re: 7age rebuild for 1981 tercel
Thanks for the info on the adapter. And yeah, I'd go with class 8.8 hardware, which is probably the best you can get anyway as I'm guessing they're M4. If M5 or above thread you can get 10.9 which is probably overkill. If you're not going to use the thin one can I buy it off you? Sure thing. Send m...

Re: 7age rebuild for 1981 tercel
you mentioned using the adjustable cam sprockets. I am looking or a nice set that is not too costly, they range in price from very cheap (about $80 as I recall), to very costly. is the extra cost worth it? what do the ones you got cost, and what do you think of them? The OBX ones are around $110. A...

Re: 7age rebuild for 1981 tercel
Rabbit trail, but isn’t that the Tercel I saw on Craigslist a couple years ago in Rogersville? Electrical problems from hooking up jumper cables wrong? Yes! He hooked up the battery backwards cause the cables arent exactly color coated. All it did was blow the main fusible link. My friend and I sho...

Re: 7age rebuild for 1981 tercel
Just wanted to give a quick update-- Just about everything has been ordered and arrived to finish the build. I am still waiting on my cometic .030" head gasket to arrive, as well as a pair of 252 cat cams. I had to switch out my traum pistons for some oem style DNJ pistons. Reason being, I misc...

Re: Stuck valve!
Many will likely say lapping the valve is easy, I just haven’t ever done it. A mild abrasive and some light spinning (by hand or with a drill??)?? I’m always ready to learn. Then it is obviously the matter of getting it back together which is certainly my plan (hopefully the weather cooperates). Ch...

Re: Transmission Rebuild Kit
Sooo basically, either first or second gear is worn from what youre saying? Lol. Car only has 124k on it, though I am the 4th owner of it. Who knows how the previous owners treated the car. I recently changed the gear oil with basic 80w90 crap from walmart, but, when I get the 7age all ready to go, ...

Re: Transmission Rebuild Kit
only three bearings ever go bad and all three are on front of tranny there are 4 total on front of tranny and only the 3 largest ones ever go bad they are all available Which bearing(s) would cause excessive whining? I know these transmissions all whine, but the 4spd in my tercel whines like a frea...

Re: Transmission Rebuild Kit
Welp got a reply. And not a good one... UNFORTUNATELY THESE KITS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. AS SOON AS THE LAST OF THE REMAINING INVENTORY WAS SOLD THAT WAS THE END AS NO ONE WOULD MAKE THEM FOR US ANYMORE. THANKS Why even list the products on the website and give a smidge of hope by saying "call...

Transmission Rebuild Kit
Anyone order from here? It doesnt directly say if they still have the different rebuild kits in stock (z40 4spd, z50 5spd, z50f 5+1spd). If they do, sweet! Pricey, but worth it, especially if they have the syncros. https://www.drivetrain.com/parts-catalog/manual-transmission-rebuild-kits-and-parts/t...
