Re: 1987 Tercel 4wd Wagon Automatic MPG Survey
Looks like I need to look a little further. My guy indeed quoted $1400 for the factory carb. Then again this is a CDA m/t carb which for whatever reason is different from the USA m/t carb. My FSM shows our autos got the same carb as your m/t and has different, different pollution equipment as well. ...

Re: 1987 Tercel 4wd Wagon Automatic MPG Survey
Thanks ARCHINSTL but my question was a curiosity about the cost of a NEW weber conversion complete with all the bits vs a NEW factory carb.( I always prefer to compare apples to apples). If I want to go with rebuild, I would do my own carb and at least know what it is I have (as opposed to something...

Re: Tercel dying in idle, need ideas.
On the carb you have 2 fuel solenoids, one is for fuel shut-off the other is low speed (idle) circuit, sounds like you could have lost the low-speed solenoid, FSM has diagnostic procedures for testing but also be aware of the wiring to solenoids, if memory serves, my first one had this problem after...

Re: Yet another Radiator replacement
My rad toasted in the spring just before the annual fishing trip for monster trout, picked up an new a/m as the dealer said nothing available. On installing I found that the fan sensor seals on the o-ring at the end but the a/m rad expects to seal on the threads, also on installing there was a clear...

Re: 1987 Tercel 4wd Wagon Automatic MPG Survey
So, now I am curious, what is a weber conversion worth, with all the bits to make it work, of course. Curious as I just priced a brand new factory carb (not a rebuild but brand spanking new) and it comes complete with all the solenoids... was surprised it was only $1400, was expecting something a li...

Re: 1987 Tercel 4wd Wagon Automatic MPG Survey
Am curious how many of you have added a Weber to your car. I used to install them all day long back in the mid eighties, everyone always claimed how great they were, personally, I found it a real pain to be re-jetting all the time whenever the weather changed and while somedays they worked GREAT, th...

Re: Your mpg solution...??
Sorry, just gotta add my 2c worth. In the real world, there is nothing in a bottle that will improve your mileage. While it is possible that he alcohol content allowed some carbon to blow out and thereby improve combustion, or you are using low grade gas and the additive allowed you to actually stop...

Re: Gas tank dilemma
The shutting off phenomena is a result of the fuel bubbling up the intake tube, which is what would normally happen when the tank is becoming full. If your problem is a new (no recent fuel system repairs/same filing station) then you have to look into the tank venting, it was vented from the factory...
