Re: Pistons..... hmmmm

You've compared wrist pin size and clearance, skirt height, and so-on? 1.5mm larger huh? Well, thats a thought. So is picking up a 4AC block from a yard. I dunno if anyone has found the limits of the stock pistons yet. And we've at least in the past had boosted Terc's on here, Tercs running nitrous,...

Re: Parts- And lots of them

Thanks guys. I do appreciate it.

I should have a good set of tail lights. I'll need to see where I set them, but I'm pretty sure I've got a set, off of the 86.

Re: Synthetic Oil

My writeup on conventional versus synthetic might still be floating around.... For one, use a Purolator PureONE PL30001 (That should be the PH8A equivalent) oil filter. Its extra capacity and filtration surface will help push those intervals longer. The biggest concern would be if pre-existing sludg...

Re: Parts- And lots of them

Well, I don't want to go too in depth, but we'll say legal issues with one sister, medical bills from another, all 4 of our primary cars blowing up (learning lots more about the "S" series engines and the subtleties of the TDI and the Powerstroke), unexpected bills, health garbage..... Bee...

Re: How much fuel is in my tank? Indication idea help?

Issue with wood would be that it gets overly saturated then sinks. Who knows how long it "wood" stay floating. And wood can also break apart and let small chunks get caught up in the strainer.

85 4wd Auto

Hey guys. Thinking about selling the 85 auto trans Terc. The engine was put in at 123,000 and it now has 127,000 and change on it. I'm the 2nd owner. Originally an east coast car, it does have some rust. Its not terrible and could be abated, and I did some abatement on it. Its covered in black spots...

Parts- And lots of them

Hey guys. Family is coming down on some stressful times- Need to get rid of my Terc parts. I've got doors, bumpers, evaporators, condensors, seats, headliners... Blocks, heads, pistons, con-rods, cranks.... I'd love to have you guys pick them up rather than scrapping everything. But they've got to g...

Re: POWER NOT THE ANSWER

I never had any challenge with the secondary opening under load. It IS a vacuum secondary. No matter how far you open the primary, it will not open the secondary except under load. As long as your vacuum system is working properly (or you eliminate the unneccessary bits to reduce vacuum leaks allowi...

Re: POWER NOT THE ANSWER

I'm still voting that trying to reverse the coolant flow through the engine will be worth a shot... Somehow disable the impeller in the water pump and use an electric pump to go reverse. GM does it in their LT-series small blocks and I believe the LS-series also does it. And those are some solid eng...

Re: Engine Flushing

Unless your car has a high-idle feature, and one that works, extended periods of idling at low speeds can subject the engine to low oil pressures increasing the chances of bearing and cylinder wall damage. When cold, the thicker oil offers extra dampening force, lowering the effects, but once warmer...

Re: A few items, Last Chance...

Oh- another thing. The TDI's and the IDI's have meshed-non-crossflow heads. Like the 3AC. Sounds inefficient, but for one, their cylinder heads are rather tall freeing up some flow. For another, you aren't running past 4500-5000 RPM, depending on model. Not to mention that there is a gentleman runni...
