Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
I did the initial valve adjustment with the head swap. After I started it up and made sure the cooling system was operational and let it get to operating temp I adjusted the valves again and re torqued the head. Then after a tank of gas or two I will then adjust valves and re torque again. I have a ...

Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
So the compression is as follows
150 on all cylinders except number 3 which is 130, but I still have readjusted the valves yet since the initial head swap. So far much better numbers than before. My number 4 was below 100 psi before the swap

Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
Well I got it all back together and it seems to be running better than before. Sounds like all cylinders are htting from the exhaust. Gotta readjust thr valves again after it cools off. Taking a break for now, started this like 7 hours ago. The linkage kit is a nightmare for the weber. I snipped thr...

Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
Thank you. The good news is I was able to get a head rebuilt by the machine shop. They had one at one of their suppliers. It should be ready by monday at the latest. Hopefully friday so I can do the swap this weekend. I will post pics of the install and any problems that may arise. Edit I was told t...

Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
Is it possible to have low compression due to a failed head gasket? I don't appear to be having the tell tale signs of a blown gasket however. I would just pull mine off to check it out, but the big issue is that it's my only mode of transportation, other wise I would see if it's just the gasket or ...

Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
All the shop told me was that it has been machines before and is past minimum thickness and pointless to use since the lack of proper thickness would mess with the came timing and gasket seal. I was going to pick it up later today and I could check it for flatness. I'm thinking I'm just going to get...

Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
Well I pulled a 3ac head from a pick n pull out in sherwood oregon and the machine shop I took it too is telling me that the head has been resurfaced before and is past minimum thickness and won't rebuild it for me. I don't know whether to return that head to the junk yard, hunt another one down and...

Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
I was speaking to the rep at the machine shop I'm using about a remanufactured head, and he was telling me that they used 3 different types of combustion chambers on the 3ac cylinder head and he wouldn't be able to rebuild one until I took mine off to determine what style it was. This was news to me...

The plastic y was there when I purchased it. I'll try plugging the one like you said and see if that changes anything

Re: vacuum advance with weber operation
I have two upper ports which are tied together with a y and that goes to my gas filter. The single lower port is routed to the vacuum port on the weber.

vacuum advance with weber operation
I was tinkering around with my timing and air/fuel mix today and came across something I wanted to ask you guys. I have a 32 36 progressive weber. I read the thread about what vacuum lines to hook up to it and followed it to a t. I was resetting my timing to 5 btdc for emissions and noticed when I w...

Re: High Hydrocarbons / deq and idle issues!!
Thanks for all the suggestions. After heavy duty seafoam treatment and restore the compression hasn't really changed much. After doing a dry then wet compression test I have come to the conclusion the the exhaust valves are probably shot, which is not suprising on an 85 with 180 miles. I plan on put...
