Re: Highest RPM achieved?
Peak power comes in at 4,800 rpm with either 3A/4A. I will rev it up to 5500 rpm if necessary to keep me in the powerband when for when I upshift into the next gear. The Delta 260 cam made the engine a bit peppier in the higher rpm range so I found myself winding the engine out more, but I've since ...

Re: 3ac to 4ac swap; have motor and questions...
Yes, the 3A fuel pump will work, that's what I used on mine. You can get an idea of the year by whether it has a straight valve cover or a wavy valve cover and if it has the TOYOTA lettering on the valve cover. The later 4A engines with the wavy valve cover usually have a black 4A sticker, the earli...

Re: 3ac to 4ac swap; have motor and questions...
I used a 3A one with the 4A-C I installed. The cam should be similar with the exception of the cam in the 4 spd hatch, that one I think used a different profile. You will need the water pump housing from the 3A to swap over as the 4A-C uses a different one.

Re: How to get rid of fast idle when hot?
Check the TP screw on the front of the carb. If the TP system is not working properly it will cause the idle to go up. You can back off the screw and lower the idle if this is the case.

Re: Wanted:Emissions parts
It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it seems like it's also missing other emissions components like the EBCV (I don't see those two hoses running to the carb) and the vacuum switches. All of which are important part of the electronic feedback system, which reduces emissions under cruise conditi...

Re: Pulling to the left
A tire can cause a pull or if the caster is not within specs. Did they give you a print-out with the alignment specs?

Re: Eureka I think I finally figured it .....
That's an interesting failure. I had just done a cylinder head swap on one of my Tercels when I was merrily driving down a backroad late at night after the operation and all of a sudden the engine died and wouldn't restart. I decided to check for spark and sure enough there was none. I had the car t...

WTB: Light grey rear cargo carpet
I had an incident where I had motor oil spill on the carpet last night and it went thru and soaked the insulation material. At this point I would rather replace it if someone on here has a spare that's in decent condition I would be interested. Looking for a light grey '83-'84 style one. Please PM i...

Re: 3.9 rear diff???????????????
They used 3.9 in the automatics, but it seems they also used that ratio in the manuals in Japan as I recall seeing that final drive ratio in one of the Japanese magazine scans. Unless someone put one by mistake from an auto into that manual transmission car at some point in the past, that's also a p...

Re: civic alignment issue
Caster is the alignment angle that will cause pulling. However, on a lot of imports, caster is not adjustable. That can be verified if you get the vehicle's alignment checked at a shop. Also, a tire can cause what is known as a 'radial pull'. You can test this theory by swapping the tire - if it pul...
