Yeah I also don't have time! I also think it would be easier to do it on a diesel engine that goes back to idle slowly such as a Detroit 671 or a Cummins 220. When you have time I would liketo hear about how to double-clutch/heel-toe the tercel. I still think that I need to know the right shift poin...

Does anyone know how to or have shifted without the clutch by knowing the shift points and matching the RPM's with the correct speed? I'm just curious about this because bus drivers don't use their clutch when driving Crown Supercoaches.

I'm glad that I helped. Your idea of the kit is interesting and people would want to buy them if you had the right marketing strategy.

I hate to disappoint you but according to the Mitchell's info there is no such thing as a hydraulic clutch on a Tercel 4WD. I went to my local library and I knew they had an 87 and 88 Mitchell manual so I made copies of the pages of clutch related stuff for the Tercel wagon and they didn't come out ...

I might have a serious oil leak on my dad's 83 because there is gear oil hanging from the middle of the tranny close to the drain plug if I remember correctly.

How bad is the transmission swap? I would like to do this on my dad's 83 as the transmission has bad syncros probably, and I also need to replace the clutch and the engine, I think I would also need to check out the condition of the differential (or rear axle) I think it just might be the wheel bear...

Will running your engine hard oh say... use a cement foot and do maximum speed in each gear help knock carbon off? Or will it cause some serious damage?

My dad's 83 ran like crap in the morning when he used to use it and it would die. The choke on the carb is not working properly is my guess. There are also numerous other problems with it and it would sometimes diesel. Yeah, the RPMs also wander on this one; you start at 700 RPM when cold, rev it up...

Of course they made Tercel 4WDs with power steering, my dad's 83 doesn't have it, but I think in 1983 when the car was introduced it was a $150 option (I think as the price goes)!

About 2 weeks ago the radiator on my dad's 83 gave up after 5-6 years of good service despite the neglect it received. We paid $149 US for a CSF (Cooling Systems & Flexibles, Inc.) radiator and $47 worth of hoses, coolant, super flush, new cap, Prestone® Super Anti-Rust, and lots of patience....

Hey,

I want that inclinometer! The bumper looks like it's good for light pollution and to infringe the United States' craptacular lighting standards. Hey, no more lighting problems! :D

One day I will have all 6 different Tercel 4WDs. They will be probably mixed SR5s and deluxe models. If I had that many Tercel 4WDs then, heck support for aftermarket parts to keep them on road!
