Re: POWER NOT THE ANSWER
I almost wonder if one could not get the TBI setup off of an older 1.6 or 1.7L motor and adapt it to fit. There has been an example of a 1.3L Geo TBI setup being adapted, but if for performance, I'd imagne something from a larger displacement motor would better suit the purposes. Why TBI off of a do...

Dash Removal
Anyone know how to get the dash out without mangling it? I need to know so I can get it out of Red to scour it. I'm going to try and R&R the old girl so long as the dash can be removed without destroying it. If I can I'm debating taking Silvers drivetrain and transplanting it. That hinges off of...

Re: A few items, Last Chance...
Theres a reason I said 1Z, AHU's, and ALH's are the only way to go. When you get into the TDI-PD's and the BEW's, reliability is a bit more questionable, plus they are more complicated and yield lower economy numbers. Early 90's 1.9L Turbo-IDI engine- AAZ 1996-late 1998- 1Z or AHU 1999-2003- ALH 1Z ...

Re: Voltage Drop and headlight performance
If I remember right they use 12 guage wires on those harnesses. Stock is not that big. Albeit, 10 would be even better.
I believe the E-codes are glass. I agree, I hate plastic lenses. And I hate having to wet-sand and polish them for hours at a time annually.

Re: Engine Flushing
Wow you are annoying. Yes I warmed it up. Good freaking grief. Pay attention before you go accusing and being a nuisance and digging up old posts just to find a reason to criticise. I would warm it up until the needle moved if it was less than 50F out. Otherwise I'd just drive it gentle and shift be...

Re: New headlight idea
The 87 and 88 had a composite headlight assembly. So you'd shove a 9004? bulb in the back, and the housing stays put. The earlier models had 6054 "sealed beam" headlights in which the entire assembly must be changed.

Hmmmm... If Toyota failed on the t4wd I'll go tell my Camry it has no reason to live. Being less than failed would suck for sure. However getting up to 120MPH on roads where the Silver wouldn't have made it past 90MPH is fun. Maybe I just had a freak Tercel that ran better than anyone elses, thus ma...

Don't leave us again Teddy >.< Heck if you can stand gutting an interior and putting it back together, let alone getting out to Colorado I'm sure we could get Red figured out. I already have all the seats and carpeting out of it, the dash will be the biggest hassle. It needs to be cleaned from being...

Re: 7a-ge
One could always rework the engine cradle, drop the engine down a few inches, and convert to full rear wheel drive utilizing a Corolla 5-speed built up a bit, as well as a GTS rear end. Or, if you really want to go buck wild, pound the firewall into submission and stuff a 5M-GE under the hood with a...

http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Headlights.shtml Scroll to upgraded headlight harness. Basically leaves factory wiring in tact and uses the factory plugs to switch the relays in the new, heavier guage harness. I measured anywhere from 2 to 6 volts drop between all my Tercels (from the 81 Cor...

Re: Rear wheel only drive
terceldude, go read How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Really.
By a redesign I meant a serious one. Not just a movement.
If you remove the front diff you'll have more room to drop the engine.
If you were going super low-buck, keeping the front assembly would work.

Both of these posts are confusing me.
AE92 caliper on what? Is that on a Tercel?
As for the rear.. That didn't look like a Terc one to me, but maybe I'm just lost?

Re: Best way to improve fuel economy?
Simple statements that apply most of the time with limited exceptions- Drive hard- fuel economy goes down Drive easy- Fuel economy goes up. Now, I think it would be safe to assume that the EPA drives how they believe "everyman" drives. So an average. Not raping tires from stoplight to stop...

Remove the outer cups from either side of the CV. Bolt the outer cup in, shove the inner cup in. Boom. Retains the spiders and gear lube in the tranny, keep the hub together up front. Drive in 4wd all the time. The diff would likely handle 62-72HP fine. 6.2" ring. The 4AGE GTS Corolla has a 6.7...
