Re: Tercel Four Wheel Drives
Not mine. Sitting at the strip mall the other day. Immaculate. Looks like a good one for adventures. Originally a Canadian domestic market Van. Manual Transmission 4x4 with low range and locking hubs. Ice maker in the center console :o E976A3FE-4437-423F-94DC-E507DDF160BE.jpeg 747EACAE-6259-4B53-86F...

Re: Front End refresh and miscellaneous parts review/appraisal
Run about 2000 miles on the above parts. Everything okay so far. I like the grease-able ball joints. Boots holding up holding grease in good. Ceramic brake pads stop the car good. Shock absorbers maybe a little on the weak side? Sags easier/ more than I’m accustomed to with other vehicles. Need new ...

Re: Which Gear Oil or Differential Oil should I use? Personal Conclusions and discussion. Molybdenum additive use?
Observations/ report: Between now and the last time I updated I’ve run about 1500 miles on the Sta-Lube 85w90 GL4 Hypoid Rated gear oil. It’s ran good. Since I got Tercel there’s been a noticeable gear whine with the transmission. It’s not bad but definitely more than I’m accustomed to in my other m...

Re: Which Gear Oil or Differential Oil should I use? Personal Conclusions and discussion. Molybdenum additive use?
Cushiness may not be the most technically correct term to describe the difference. What I was trying to describe is how at the same temperature, within the same brand, in the same rated viscosity, behave differently, synthetic vs conventional. I was intrigued at the Redline series of product until I...

Which Gear Oil or Differential Oil should I use? Personal Conclusions and discussion. Molybdenum additive use?
I’m posting this to share in a searchable form my findings on preserving the drive train of the Tercel 4wd vehicles. I’ve spent a lot of time on here, other websites and resources, and referencing the Factory Service Manual for the most correct answer to the question: Which differential oil or gear ...

Re: Cardone CV Axle troubles
They were about 75 bucks each (a little cheaper for the shorter one) and including the NAPA freight charge of $25 for each axle (your price mileage on that may vary less or more there depending on where you’re at). So about 100$ an axle. I’ve not reached out to the manufacturer directly to see if th...

Re: 1986 4WD SR5, Two owner, new-to-me Tercel
The Tercel is refreshed, sitting on its own feet again, and pending a front end alignment at the local alignment shop, ready to hit the road! Front End refresh and miscellaneous parts review/appraisal
Just got done on some front end refresh on the Tercel. Plus some brake parts, and miscellaneous. No ride height modification. Hopefully this is a helpful resource for those out there looking for the right parts to rebuild front end suspension. This is what I used and my appraisal/ ongoing review of ...

Re: Cardone CV Axle troubles
So I got new manufactured axle shafts from my local NAPA. I measured them against the original ones and the spline width, depth, thickness, and taper match exactly. The inboard oil sealing surfaces going into the transmission are perfect. The oil sealing surfaces on the outboard joint going into the...

Re: Cardone CV Axle troubles
I gave up on trying to modify the Cardone axles. TLDR: Just say no to Cardone; Roockauto will not except returns if you modify a part in any way shape or form. Ended up ordering a set of new manufactured ones from local NAPA; I will inspect in person before I make payment for them. I tried using a t...

Cardone CV Axle troubles
Cardone CV Axle troubles are well known here. Having to do so much finish work to make it functional speaks poorly about the manufacturer integrity. Here are some of my observations and attempts toward solutions Tried filing a ramp and a beginning taper on tips of the output shaft side of the cv axl...
