Re: Can someone write up rear brake shoe step by step?
On resurfacing/replacing: New brake shoes/pads *REQUIRE* a fresh cast iron surface for proper break in *every* time. Brakes don't work by creating friction between pad material and cast iron, they create friction between the pad and a very thin layer of the same pad material embedded in the rotor/dr...

Re: Soon to be 4WD Tercel owner.
True to form, the Tercel has turned into more of a project than I intended. Yesterday I fitted up the 36-1 trigger wheel, VR sensor, and Ford coil packs for wasted spark: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/Teranfirbt/07102010020.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/Teranfirbt/07102010018.j...

Re: To swap or not to swap? Ice racing Tercel
You'll want to get a DGV series. There are 3 different types, DGEV (electric choke), DGAV (coolant choke) and just DGV (manual choke). I've got a DGEV on mine and it works great, although getting the choke set right was a little finicky.

Re: Front end shake
Have you checked the inner tie rod ends? Those had about 1/16" of slop in mine and were causing both of my front wheels to shake, cured the problem right up when I replaced em.

Re: Is there a secret...
I ended up having to borrow a friend's 600 lb-ft impact gun to get mine off, they're definitely on there.

Re: Headlight Replacement
If you get a long and thin flat head screw driver in there, you can see 2 projecting tabs on the front of those clips. Pry up on the tabs so they match up with the larger openings and then pull on the bezel to release the clips. do them one at a time, there's enough play.

I just did the left front axle in mine, it was pretty easy, took about an hour... No special tools involved.

Re: Cold Starting weber 32/36
It was hitting 9 F here and my Tercel with a Weber started every time no problem. Not quite -40, but the weber works fine in the cold, especially if things are already warm.

Re: Wiring Harness drawings?(shows individual plugs)
The wiring supplement has what you're after, it's a separate book from the FSM.
Re: Bosch CIS
Yep, my friend's CIS Rabbit just randomly started puking fuel into the system to the point that it was literally dousing the spark. TBI would get you what you're after, can be easily programmed, and would pretty much just require a standard EFI fuel pump and some wiring. Multi port would be awesome ...

Re: 3ac engine: valve interference or not?
As a general rule Toyota engines with timing chains *are* interference, Toyota engines with Belts are Non-interference. There are of course exceptions.
All of my Toyota engines have had 19mm crank pulley bolts (22R-E, 3A-C, 2RZ-FE).
