Re: Troubleshooting Non-Functioning Instrument Lights

Have you checked the rheostat control for the bulbs? Do the illumination bulbs for the heater controls work?

Re: Oh boy, valve knock? Video inside

Just had a look at some old engine parts I've got in my garage- there's a bolt (with a 14mm head) on the back of the camshaft that holds the distributor drive gear (which also is the excentric for the fuel pump lever) to the camshaft. Could that bolt be loose? Probably a long shot, but worth a try. ...

Re: Oh boy, valve knock? Video inside

First of all, how much oil did you have to add to bring it up to the "full" mark on the dipstick? Have you tried removing the pump again and starting the engine to see if the noise goes away? Oil leak could be coming from between the fuel pump and cylinder head.

Good luck.

Re: Seats from other Toyotas?

I assume the '86 auto was FWD? If so, the rear seats are definitely different.

They should fit the pre '87 FWD wagons.

Re: Oh boy, valve knock? Video inside

You could try removing the pump and starting the engine (should run for a while with no pump.)
Good luck!

Are ALL the fuses good- blinkers only work with key on but flashers should work with key on or off. Just a thought-good luck!

Re: Terry Making Noise - 85 A/T Tercel 4WD DLX Wagon

Not sure about the A/T t4's, but my '85 FWD A/T wagon has a seperate fill for the front diff (which was low on gear oil when I got the car.) Even after draining and filling the diff it continues to whine on acceleration between 38 and 45 mph. Was like that when I got it and doesn't seem to have gott...

Re: in helena montana looking for running 3a motor

Are you sure it's a crankshaft bearing problem and not just a loose balancer? I had an '84 FWD wagon that I SWORE had a rod knock and fixed it by replacing the balancer, timing belt gear, and crank keys with used parts. Engine's still running fine to this day. Unfortunately, I'm in Maryland...

Re: ISO: Front and/or Rear Differential

Unfortunately you're about 8 1/2 years late- when I converted my '87 4WD A/T to manual, I posted the rear "punkin" and transaxle here, but no one was interested (for good reason IMO) so I scrapped 'em with the donor vehicle shell. Was a shame too- they only had about 150,000 miles on them ...
