Re: Complete rear axle replacement?
Just completed this a couple of months ago, not bad. Make sure to SAFELY support the car when swapping. Spray all the bolts/nuts needing removed with a penetrant a few times days before. An impact wrench is useful as well. Also, confirm your new rear end gearing matches the front. If not, swap the t...

Re: Wanted*** 3ac motor for 87 Tercel wagon.
zado,
It would need to be out of a Chevy Nova or possibly a Corolla. The 4A block is a twin to the 3A, but you have to swap the oil pan, valve cover, brackets, accessories, etc. A newer 4AFE is NOT what you want.

Nordical,
We won’t be able to top the elevations and scenery in CO, but every year brings something new/different that makes it a great get together.

I think we made it to 12 at the same time this year, a lot of fun for sure!

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)
Tersailor,
I would likely try to “fill” the broken area with JB Weld or even JB Weld a little piece in there. I don’t think it would create a problem for the belt either way, but it might not “balance” as well.

Re: Aluminum plunger in carburetor
Peanut,
There is typically a little rubber puck that lands on top of the piece you’re looking for. I’ve got a parts carb at home (in CO for the Meet & Greet currently). These carbs/parts should be around, it seems nearly 1/2 of the Tercel peeps swap a Weber on.

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)
Almost anything you purchase will work 3A or 4A, excluding pistons, rings, etc. The exterior of the block is the same. As a matter of fact, I purchased a 272 regrind cam when I rebuilt the 4A 70,000 miles ago. I didn’t know I needed either heavier OR double valve springs but used std springs. After ...

Thanks for the update, I’m sure you’ll work through the issues after Colorado. Travel safely, see you on Thursday, the Rusty Frog is ready to go (still need to load it though).

Hey Larry,
Great to hear from you! Headed to Colorado in about 30 hours for an adventure. My wife and I would love to visit Montana, maybe next spring? I would love to see your Tercel and Styleline.

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)
#3 looks suspect to me. It looks like I can see a “rust” colored line vertically down the cylinder wall?

Re: The Tersailor (REBUILDING)
Tersailor, I’m just a shade tree, hillbilly mechanic, but I think there is a spec for ring gap when you slide the pistons back in. For the life of me, I can’t remember how you would measure it? I would hone the cylinder walls and check cylinder dia. and possibly ring gap on the pistons. If it falls ...
